QB Antonio Henton (transfer to Ga. Southern and FT. Valley St.)

i know the state of georgia is supposed to be pretty deep this year, but henton was rated #45 out of 75 in the state by rivals, behind a qb that was 5'10'' 190.

that's a bit low. but then again, he didnt throw at any nike camps this spring so rivals rated him lower since nike camps seem to be their entire basis for everything.

No expert on QB technique but he does look like a young TS.
Inconsistent footwork and throws, nice ability to deliver the ball on the run. Good scrambling but does not run at the first sign of pressure.
Nice prospect that seems to fit into the JT vision of QB.

Scott Kennedy thinks pretty highly of him. says he's raw but with tremendous athleticism and upside. has a cannon for an arm and moves very well.
could take some time, just as it did with Troy, but supposedly has a pretty high ceiling.

Antonio was named to the Nike/EA Sports Top 100 QB tracker list, so he must be doing something right.

I watched his video from Scout this morning...I wish I had watched it sooner. He is much more polished than I anticipated. He has a rocket for an arm and throws a nice looking ball despite having a release point that is well closer to his helmet than most QBs. His footwork in the pocket is a bit lazy at times, but he is definitely dangerous when he gets outside the pocket. There is one play where he scrambles, makes several guys miss, cuts back across the entire field and then stretches for the pylon...that is just phenomenal. I still really like Adam Weber, but I am extremely impressed with Henton as well. I think he would be a great get for the Bucks. After seeing his video and seeing his rankings in Rivals, I really feel like this kid is vastly underrated. I am going to anxiously wait and see what kind of numbers he puts up this fall with another year of experience under his belt.

It just makes sense to get a mobile/dual-threat QB. We already have 2 pocket passers in Boeckman and Schoenhoft, so why not have more options available. I think he's going to have to VERY good to win the job in '07, but he'd have his shot.

Based on wadc45's comments, I just re-watched Antonio's films, and came away somewhat more impressed than I had been, primarily based on his athletic ability. I still think that he's a raw QB prospect, but hey, college coaches get paid big money to turn kids like Antonio into stars at the next level.

From BSB...Henton is making his first visit to Columbus this weekend for camp. He grew up a Georgia fan, and calls the Bucks and Dawgs his favorites. He has offers from OSU, Illinois, Maryland and Louisville.

He will get an offer after camp, where he will be at Sr. Camp next weekend. Only concern is low grades. As we lost the midwest QB prospect, and Tebow could stay home, he is our top/next to top prospect.
From what I've heard, he is the only available QB that has an official (written) offer from OSU. Isiah Williams was the only other one who had an offer.

Gamecocks Interested In Georgia QB

By Matthew Pitts
Fort Valley, Georgia QB Antonio Henton (6-2 210) is spendiing time this summer at a few camps before he heads into his senior season at Peach County High School. Henton has already visited the Auburn Tigers for a one day camp session, and this weekend is heading up for a weekend camp session with Ohio State. Henton performed very well last season as he threw for 1800 yards and 21 touchdowns. Illinois, Ohio State, Louisville and Maryland have all offered Henton, and Georgia, Auburn, Florida and USC are all showing serious interest. When asked what he brings to the table as a football player, Henton suggested, "I am a leader first and foremost, and I can run or throw the ball really well." Henton supports a 250 pound bench press along with a 440 pound squat and a 4.6 40-yard dash. Henton also confirmed that Ohio State leads for his commitment because they were the first school to offer him. Henton is also trying to plan one more camp in July, but is not sure at this point.
