Rashan "LLL" Gary (DL Green Bay Packers)

This is huge. Partridge has been like a father to Gary. Apparently he took a lot of heat on the transfer (Gary to Paramus Catholic) and Partridge was there for him and his mother, and they both consider him family. Gary said that "Partridge will be a part of his life for the rest of his time."

Doesn't mean he'll join him at scUM(nor am I insinuating you said so). Many times a kid has went to a different institution where his father was a legend. At the end of the day if he's a father figure, he'll point Gary in the right direction of the best school for Gary and not himself... We shall see

Yeah Coach Partridge was in a heavy favorite to take the same position at Rutgers, and Gary already expressed to he had no interest in going there. And CP told him he understood and would help him find the right place for him. That being said he's already said that he is interested in UM and Harbaugh. Although Gary and Peppers didn't play together they know each other and Gary thinks highly of him so that should help too.

Glad he's visiting but I just don't see this happening long-term. Think OSU has a better shot at some other highly rated DTs, especially in Georgia...

I guess he also mentioned wanting to try to make it for the Spring Game as well. But I'll believe that when I see it. Heck, I'll believe he visits this weekend when it happens :). But if he does make both visits, I'm guessing your outlook would change?

Gary will be a tough get. However, getting him up this weekend is and good start. He's also rumored to be looking to visit for the spring game too.

Having Walker and (possibly) Guarantano will help as well.

What makes you think it won't happen? We have a lot favoring us in his recruitment (relationships with commits, players, relationship with LJ, National Championship, location). I think we have a legit shot.

Is it great he is coming for a visit? Of course. Do I think he will ultimately sign with OSU? I do not. Is that subject to change? Of course.

UM will make him a high priority and Chris Partridge being there will certainly help their chances. And you know the SEC West will make him a high priority as well. As will Penn State and Rutgers. Like I said, I just think OSU has a better shot at guys like Barrow from Florida, Jackson and Rochester out of Georgia, Jones from Illinois and Onwenu from Michigan.

Givler came out and basically said the same thing I did yesterday afternoon. And he is a guy I think is more realistic about things rather than someone who worries about selling subscriptions.

I think OSU has the most upside for Gary but of course it will be an all-out battle. The reason I think this: First, Gary will be a late decision in all likelihood. Second, he will get to watch OSU presumably dominate the field all season and will see title runs as imminent. Third, he will get to see scUM get embarrassed on the field all season. Fourth, Patridge is close with Gary but LJ has been there for a LONG time as well...it remains to be seen how much of an advantage Patridge has in that category (to my knowledge). Fifth, we already have Walker and Guarantano is visiting again before his final decision...having those two (or even just Walker) would be huge in getting Gary, as they are all very close. Finally, our DT situation after this season could be described as murky at best. Exiting this year were Bennett and Carter. Washington, Hale, and Schutt will all be gone after this season, leaving only Hill, Munger, and our '15 freshman coming in. Obviously I hope all of those guys step it up but even if they show some flash, Gary is going to see he will get immediate PT. He is that good even if we were stacked but considering the potential issues at that spot 2016 & forward, he should be salivating.

I think there are teams that can offer him some of the above but I think we are the only one that can offer all of those things. That doesn't mean that something like a relationship with a particular coach (like Patridge) or southern persuasion could not outweigh those factors cumulatively. I just think we have a lot of upside and cards to play down the stretch.

That's four-star WR Ahmir Mitchell. (Here he is eating wings with 2016's No. 1 overall prospect, Rashan Gary.)
