RB Jordan Hall (Official Thread)

what if its worse than expected and he gets a red/med shirt. 2013 bowl eligible with Hall? or did i just slide down that slope
He already redshirted. Doesn't make sense to get him a medical hardship waiver if he is healthy in the later part of the season.

He has not redshirted. He was part of the '09 class and has played in all three of the '09, '10, and '11 seasons.
My bad. I knew he was from Pryor's school. I thought he was from the same class, but he actually was from the next class. Still don't think he redshirts though.

just in my imo.... but if he isn't 100% by the start of B1G season I would think that he would redshirt. He isn't a high NFL draft prospect and needs a great season. Why play hurt all year with no possibility of a bowl game. There is no bowl game, it wouldn't help his NFL stock, and 2013 could be something special.

But wouldn't that hurt our 2014 RB recruits? And hall doesn't necessarily start if he comes back. We're pretty deep and after this year we'll find out who can run that hybrid position as well. He could still get drafted in a similar position whether he stays or goes he's more than likely a 3rd day draft pick or UFa. Playing in our offense where he wont have a true defied position, may hurt his draft status because he's more of a return man than anything else

Foot injury sidelines Jordan Hall approximately 10 weeks
Running back cuts foot walking in grass; expected to be in a cast up to six weeks with rehab to follow

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Jordan Hall, the senior running back who figures to be a key go-to player in coach Urban Meyer’s offensive attack this fall, will be out of commission for approximately 10 weeks while recovering from surgery Friday to an injured foot.

Hall, who enters his senior season with 2,513 all-purpose yards to rank 26th all-time at Ohio State, suffered an accidental cut to the bottom of his right foot Wednesday afternoon while walking in grass outside his residence in Columbus. He had surgery Friday at the Ohio State University Medical Center.

“This is an unfortunate accident to a really fine young man,” Meyer said. “He’s handling things well, though. He’ll be in a non-weight bearing cast for about six weeks and then he’ll rehabilitate the injury for at least four weeks after that.”

Ohio State opens its fall camp in about five weeks – the first week of August – with the first game of the 2012 season set for Sept. 1 against Miami of Ohio.

Hall has 817 career rushing yards with five touchdowns and has also caught 21 passes out of the backfield for 202 yards and four more TDs. He came out of spring drills No. 1 on the depth chart at running back. Junior Carlos Hyde (707 career rushing yards and six touchdowns), sophomore Rod Smith (116 and one, respectively) and true freshman Bri’onte Dunn were also competing in the mix at running back throughout spring.

Disappointing end to June.

Urghhhh

The pivotal question is: will he be back for the game against Cal on 9/15? That is 10 weeks, actually 11 weeks. He wouldn't have much practice running all the new plays.

At least, he will not have an injury in the first two meaningless games.

So much for Meyer's "what is needed is a world record summer of 7 on 7 practices". No Jake. No Hall.

Luke would say, "what do you want me to do, whine"? I guess I need to stop whining.

9/15 Cal game will only be one full week of practice after 4 weeks of rehab...too early to tell how that 4 weeks of rehab goes. As of today, it sounds like roughly 2 more weeks in a boot...1st week w/o a boot is crucial to healing. Here's to healing quickly and being at 100% when he comes back!

I saw a guy slice open his nut sac sliding down a flag pole and he wasn't out of the game for 10-weeks. Just say'n.

In all seriousness, get better JH!

There's also conditioning. I don't know how much of a role we can expect him to play that early in the season, when we're running a fast paced, no huddle offense, and Hall will be unable to run until pretty late into the rehab.

Ohio State football: Hall?s foot one step closer to recovery
By Tim May
The Columbus Dispatch Saturday
August 4, 2012

The veterans of the Ohio State football team hit the ground running for their first preseason practice just before 6 a.m. yesterday, but perhaps the most important news came 12 hours later. It was in a simple tweet from running back Jordan Hall.

?Cast is off.?

The cast had encased Hall?s right foot since he had surgery in June to repair a tendon that had been cut when he stepped on broken glass. It?s still a long way between ?cast is off? and cleared to play, but now the senior, expected to be the hybrid back in coach Urban Meyer?s spread offense, can get on with some of the more rigorous parts of his rehabilitation.

Projected to be out at least 10 weeks, Hall appears to be slightly ahead of schedule. The cast was expected to be on for six weeks, but is off after five. And Meyer said on June 30 that once it was removed, Hall would rehabilitate the injury for at least four weeks.
