RB Jordan Hall (Official Thread)

I have always thought Hall would be a star, here. Ever since I saw the video of him playing DB and knocking a kid out! Not the fastest or the biggest but just a football player that gives 150% all the time. His speed may be better now and certainly his build is much more solid, now. But he's always been a competitor. Great kid, too!

Halling Back

While the news certainly appears to be good for Williams, the Buckeyes will open the season without the services of tailback Jordan Hall. The senior out of Jeannette, Pa. has been on the shelf since tearing a tendon in his toe over the summer, and he won?t be available for the game on Saturday.

?Yeah, he?s jogging,? Meyer said. ?He?s a couple weeks away.?

The target date for Hall has been the week-two matchup with Central Florida. That would be the low end of recovery time for Hall, who cut his foot on a piece of glass while taking his dog for a walk.

If Hall is still a ?couple weeks? away, he might not be back until Ohio State?s third nonconference game against Cal on Sept. 15. The Buckeyes will play UAB a week later I their final nonconference tune-up before a huge early-season trip to East Lansing on Sept. 29.

But Jordan Hall might not be off the field much longer.

Meyer indicated the running back might return to practice this week, though he's unlikely to be available against UCF as he recovers from the foot surgery to repair a torn tendon after a freak accident in the summer.

"I?ll know more today, but he?s got that look on his face like he?s dying to get out there," Meyer said. "I think he might practice this week. I?ll let you know."

I'm very interested to see the dynamic that Hall will give this offense when paired with Miller. He's going to make option football terribly difficult to defend as an opposing defense, because he is capable of breaking one as well.

There's also conditioning. I don't know how much of a role we can expect him to play that early in the season, when we're running a fast paced, no huddle offense, and Hall will be unable to run until pretty late into the rehab.

Monday before the Cal game and if full participation in practice was ever needed, it's now. Conditioning is definitely a concern, even in a limited role as opposed to being the "featured" back. I'd like to see a formation with Hall and Dunn on the field at the same time. Give 'em hell JH!:osu:

I forget where I read it, but I remember a recent comment from Coach Meyer about Hall saying that if they brought him back into action too early or incorrectly, that the foot could give him problems for the rest of his life. I hope he's truly ready soon, but there's no need to rush him back. Even if the games mattered, the player's health is what's most important. This year though, everything is just a glorified exhibition anyway. If he's not ready to go this weekend, so be it.

Monday briefing: Jordan Hall close to return
September, 10, 2012
By Austin Ward | ESPN.com

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The rehabilitation clock has expired, and medical clearance has officially arrived.

It still remains to be seen if Jordan Hall will be able to get back on the field after 10 weeks recovering from the surgery on the torn tendon in his foot.

Ohio State's senior running back will participate in two intense practices this week to prove that he's capable of providing a lift for a beaten-up backfield on Saturday against California, and coaches weren't ready at the start of game-week preparations to pencil him into the depth chart without seeing him work.

"There is a chance that Jordan could play this week," running backs coach Stan Drayton said on Monday. "It?s a day-by-day thing, and he?s right at the end of his timeline for his rehab off that toe. You know, he has been somewhat cleared but we have to go off how he feels on a day-to-day basis. We?ll see.

"In his heart and with his mindset, he wants to go. If he can?t perform at close to 100 percent and help this team and not hurt the team, we?ll have to evaluate that at that time."

That deadline is likely going to be Wednesday after the second of Ohio State's two critical workouts, though a final decision might not come until Thursday.

That call won't be just about Hall, because Drayton, coach Urban Meyer and the rest of the offensive staff are also evaluating all of their options in the backfield with Carlos Hyde out with a knee sprain and true freshman Warren Ball out for the year after his own foot surgery. But Hall was the projected starter before his freak accident set him back physically, and the Buckeyes have some big plans for him on offense they no doubt would like to unveil.

"I don?t know [the status yet]. He?s going to run today and I?ll know more," Meyer said. "He was out there working a little bit yesterday, so there?s a chance."
