RB Roderick Smith (Official Thread)

In viewing his video today, his combination of size, speed, power, quickness and vision sets him apart, imo. I can see why Tress thinks he's the best RB in this class. He has all the attributes that Beanie demonstrated. Hopefully, he will stay injury free throughout his career.

Plus, if he grows a beard, there is no telling what he might accomplish!!

Buckeye Mike - FIFY. :wink2:

Buckeye Mike - Picture Sam Kinison talking to Rodney Dangerfield in the movie "Back to School" - Good answer. Good answer. I LIKE THE WAY YOU THINK! I'm gonna be watching you...

The one thing that sticks out to me in that film is his vision. He's got an outstanding ability to see the field, know when and where people are going to be, and make the cut to the inside or outside with great pace. In my opinion, it's been a while since we've recruited a RB with the type of vision and awareness that Roderick has... probably MoC. He would be another nice addition to our stable of RBs, bringing in another valuable element. I love how each one of those guys is so different.

I don't see the Beanie comparison, other than the fact that he's a big "power" RB with speed and Beans is still fresh in everybody's mind. Stylistically, he reminds me of Robert Smith, IMO.

Honestly this is the best type of Running Back in my opinion. Big enough to take a hit, but fast enough to run with everyone, and just the vision to make those cuts and hit the hole with speed and power.

Man, I don't know... I mean, how well did Archie, Eddie, and Beanie do?

We need a McGuffie type. Perhaps we can scrape what's left of him up off the turf and clone us a winner...

Man that film is impressive. He's got way more shake than Beanie and probably as much bake. Most of all he just looks like a really good all-around football player - like MoC. That play at 0:14 is bad ass! You can see how much top speed he has at 1:07. I really, really hope he comes here.

Bear in mind the level of the competition in this film.
Dreadful.
He is a man amongst boys for sure in this film.

Personally, I would like to see him breaking more tackles.

I think the Robert Smith comparison is a good one. Moves his feet a lot like Eddie George did, too. Not anything remotely like Beanie.

i like that he hits the hole fast and then is elusive in the second level. When he gets to tOSU, however, he's going to have to lower his pads a lot more and grind out some first downs.

Yeah, that was pretty much my impression: he's fast, he's got a wiggle, and he's got decent vision, but given the apparent level of competition I'd like to see him break a few more tackles or generally be more physically dominant. Still, it looks as though he's got a fairly high ceiling.
