Reds Tidbits (2011 Season)

The Cincinnati Reds page on Facebook says the forecast is nice... I must be missing something as Dayton has been pummeled with rain since about 2am last night. Did Cincinnati avoid all of that?!

Rained down here most of the day, but it has stopped. They keep saying it will be "sunny and dry", but it is still a bit overcast. Just heard it should be clear until after the game.

We definitely didn't avoid it, and now I get to go home and mop out my basement. All the shit that fell off my neighbor's tree clogged the drain at the bottom of my driveway this morning. I had 18 inches of standing water up against and seeping under my garage door and into the basement when I left for work. I cleared the drain before I left, but there's still a mess and who knows if any more of that yard waste washed down and clogged it again.

Today has sucked balls. These dickheads better win.

Just go beat the living fuck out of your neighbor, you'll feel better.

I posted this over at RZ but they are such arrogant pricks I don't expect a decent answer.

A serious trade proposal that makes sense for both teams and is realistic in terms of $$ going in both directions:

Votto, Cueto and Juan Francisco to Seattle for Felix Hernandez.

Thoughts?

For the record I'd do it.

I look at it like this.. if you have two young and still developing players at the top of their respective positions in Votto and Felix involved, I think (more like hope if something like this were to go down) we'd be able to get by with throwing Edinson in there instead of Johnny (i know wishful thinking). With that Seattle get's to decide what they want to do with Smoak while he's still young (as far as possible position change) as they now have their first baseman for at least the next three years, a pitcher who we've all hoped would pan out with TOR stuff and then of course Juan.

disclaimer: at least at this point in time I value Johnny a little bit more than Edinson.

and to answer your proposal, well I think i'd do that too

I would not part with Joey Votto and most people in Cincinnati wouldnt either. The throwback player is like gold to Reds rooters.

Alonzo, Gomes, Francisco and Cueto and I'd do it right now.

The problem is you have to roughly even out the contracts and I'm trying to be realistic about what Seattle would take in return. You have to give something to get something and all we'd be offering there is Alonzo and raging mediocrity.

FH is also 3 years younger than Votto who may be out the door in 2012 anyway. I'd hate to lose Votto but I trade the ace SP for the stud 1B any chance I get.
