S/LB Tyler Moeller (official thread)

Well, Tyler has signed...so I can now tell this quick little story. ( I promised that I would not tell it until signing day)

We all know Iowa and VT offered Tyler....

What most of you don't know is...

The night before Tyler became a Buckeye he received a call from the LB coach at tsun.
All of a sudden and out of the blue they found a free scholarship to offer Tyler!
Tyler's reply lasted all of 5 seconds. "I'm comitting to Ohio State tomorrow. But thanks, anyway!"

End of conversation.

How many Buckeye fans ever dreamed of being offered a scholarship from both schools and having the pure pleasure of telling tsun 'NO!'?

in any event, I promised my 'source' that I wouldn't post that until signing day.
I wonder if Mom is the 'source.' From BN...

Hello!

Tyler would most likely be embarrassed if he knew I was e-mailing you, but I couldn’t resist setting the record straight. In the future, you can include Tyler Moeller in on the list of recruits that OSU got over Michigan. Tyler talked to Michigan about an hour before he committed to Coach Tressel. They said they had a spot for him and wanted him to come up that weekend. He said thanks, but that he was going to be a Buckeye! We couldn’t be happier, I might add.

Have a great day!

Last Update on Tyler before he graduates and makes his way to Columbus:

Tyler has hit his weight goal. The kid is now at 220lbs and thinks he can put on 5 more before july.

Tyler has been assigned uniform number 26 and is ok with the possibility of a redshirt.

On Saturday Tyler ran a couple of hand timed 40's to see if the weight gain had hampered his speed. His two hand timed dashes were 4.44 and 4.41. Again, these were hand timed, but both were faster then his hand timed 4.5's last summer.

Finally...and probably not what you guys want to hear...
Tyler has no clue were Eugene Clifford is going to play his college ball. He says Cliff just won't talk to anybody about it.

Good night and Good luck.

That's all well and good with the speed, but has the kid learned how to effectively tackle? I hear this is the weakest part of his game because those kids in SW OH do not play smash-mouth football. Maybe you can work with him and toughen him up a bit.

If I remember correctly, he knocked out several QBs in one game...maybe you should let him tackle you a few times and see...maybe you will not be able to get back up after the first one!
