tOSU Recruiting Discussion

If I'm on our staff, I'd be giving LSU's other two DT commitments Edwin Alexander and Glen Logan a courtesy call... or the other two DT's that high on LSU's board that haven't pulled the trigger yet (D'Andre Christmas-Giles & Stephon Taylor). There's no way that LSU is taking 5 freakin' DT's in this class...

I can't understand why these kids keep going to schools like Bama and LSU.....who already have a good amount of players at their position on their roster plus a few more guys committed at the same position. With the chance of getting SEC'd out (pushed out due to presumably "not living up" to the billing") for a high ranked recruit in a few years. Seems like the better option would be going to a school where there is an excellent chance to play a lot from day 1?

Count me in the camp that is starting to grow concerned about the ability to get 4 star DT's. Didn't Meyer say if you want a bad football team have a bad d-line?
Yep this times 1000 for me. The only issue is none of these elite tackles have been from Ohio the last few years to make it easy. We need a quality defensive tackle in the worst way.

We recruit ends like no one I've seen but why can't we land the high end tackles is sort of a myth to me. Nonetheless King just became priority 1 for the class. Honestly we cannot afford to lose him IMO.

not to knock our own players but I'm not confident in any of them. Hill/Munger/Sprinkle all haven't done much so far and the players we got last year are an unknown. Yet here we are and that's still not enough to get people here for some reason.

The staff is amazing at recruiting. So I'm not complaining but something seems to be off when it comes to what we are telling our interior DTs.

I don't understand wanting a recruit to come to Ohio State because he was afraid of competition elsewhere. Ohio State is trying to get the best players - the type of players that typically believe they could get on the field anywhere.

Elite DTs are the rarest players out there. Most of them come from the south. Most of them seem to want to stay close to home. It's an uphill battle. Guys like Johnathan Hankins are tough to find these days.

I'm starting to think it's the philosophy difference on these two conferences. In the SEC it's more power football and smash mouth. With the B1G you have more teams who spread you out and run no huddle.

No fat DT wants to be running all over the place they'd rather plug the interior and then get 30 seconds between plays.

Just odd how much of the talent comes from the south when it comes to DTs.

As I've said, OSU is just fine at the 3-tech spot. Between Landers, Munger, Hill, Barrow, Bosa, Jones, they'll be just fine.

The concern is the 1-tech nose tackle spot, which is a very hard position to find, especially up north.

Maybe not this years class.....but Jerron Cage is next years class.....whos currently the #14 DT in the 247 Composite

So it's not like they are slumming, even though they've "missed" on a couple of the "elite" guys
