WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

The issue is Terrelle hired an agent before being suspended for the year by the NCAA.

He would have been suspended for the year, but Terrelle made it official by hiring an agent first. That is why the NFL made an example of him...

If you don't make an example of him, all of a sudden players are hiring agents after the initial draft and making themselves ineligible for NCAA play.
Exactly, TP's case was a rare one with how it transpired, but it opened a door for players to just say fuck it and make themselves ineligible if they think they might miss anytime whatsoever the next year.

Instead they can just break team rules and get kicked off the team like LB from Virginia the bengals drafted several years ago. If the NFL wants to end this, cancel the supplamental draft altogether.

NFL will take up Terrelle Pryor?s appeal on Thursday
Posted by Mike Florio on September 14, 2011

Raiders quarterback Terrelle Pryor, after a ping-pong, roller-coaster, Favre-esque, will-he-or-won?t-he deliberation regarding whether an appeal would be made of a five-game suspension imposed by Commissioner Roger Goodell, finally filed for a review and has not withdrawn it.

Jason LaCanfora of NFL Network reports that a hearing will be conducted on Thursday, with Pryor hoping for an expedited decision.

Adam Schefter said on TV today that this was move that the NFLPA wanted more than a move that TP wanted. Since there really isn't any precedence for a situation like this they wanted to lay the ground work for the best case scenario for their players in this situation in the future.

The situation described is EXACTLY what the supplemental draft is for...

I think his point is that if this is all that is needed, instead of "just hiring an agent," Terrelle could have just broken a team rule. I guess there is a "right" way to circumvent the rules to get into the supplemental draft without penalty...

It annoys me that you can't ding someone when they've been banned.
I'm quoting this so I can find it easily when the 14 days are up.

Really missed TP on Saturday. It would have been nice to see him tear up the Miami defense.

I told my brother in law the same thing. We had quite the weapon in TP and he had that competitive fire. I didn't get the same feel with either QB, but Braxton was giving it everything he had running the ball. Too bad TP didn't spend another year even if partially on the sidelines and in practice. Major lessons learned Saturday. They failed their road test but passed the a larger life lesson test. Keep the competitive fire alive and live for another day. Sounds like a bunch crap a coach might say, maybe LF can get these guys motivated to beat Colorado this Saturday. There's too much pride on this team to do less.

Let's see, competitive fire? Or competency?

I'll take competency for $2,000, Alex.

We need a bye week..more for the coaching staff to do some self scouting..revaluate personell and move forward..losing to Miami is not the end of the world but the team needs to be performing their best when the Big 10 season starts..and even that may not be good enough..I can live with losses if it looks like were at our best..and our young guys are improving..

Michigan bans Dennis Talbott

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Dennis Talbott, the businessman and freelance photographer who has been linked with former Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor in a scandal involving autographed memorabilia, has been banned by the Michigan athletic department.

School officials learned Talbott, of Columbus, Ohio, had been on the sideline shooting photos during the Sept. 3 game against Western Michigan in Ann Arbor. The media credentials of both Talbott and This Week in Football, the Ohio outlet for which he was taking photos, were revoked Tuesday.
