Howard reminds me of Doss and another RB from McK that played with Josh McDaniels, I think his name was Brown. I wouldn't rule out Howard ending up at SS. He could be a Moore, Whitner, or Hines wrecking ball type. He's a physical guy with great intincts on either side of the LOS.
"Small made a couple bad choices along the way, with perhaps skipping classes."
I skipped more (way more) classes than I attended in undergrad and Law School; so, apparently, I'm a sociopath. I'm not buying the character equals attendance logic. Give the kid a break.
Kecman will be starting soon enough b/c this talented team lacks maturity, and from the few minutes I saw him play, Kecman appeared to have a seasoned game. When DL returns I wouldn't surprised to see Turner get some minutes at the 1 when Kecman is on the court.
OSU has a ton of talent with more on the way, I'd like to see JT get this talent in space. In order to do this, JT needs to attack the defense. Meyer and the Big 12 guys seem to be able to control the middle of the field, while JT seems tentative attacking the middle. Watch FL and OK and see...
I'm having visions of Shugarts and Adams on the edge alongside Boren et Brewster (and Mewhort) in the middle. Posey and Brown grabbing seam routes downfield. Pryor et Boom et Berry play action/ read option w/ Stoneburner in the flats. JB can't mess that up; can he?
Has Boone played in a bowl game victory? I remember a quote from him earlier this year when he said that he was chuckling in the huddle during the last drive of the game. OSU won that game, I'm not sure the game (maybe Wisky). Now that he's gone I can take solace in the fact that the next left...
For all the little future Buckeye LBs out there- get to your drops in the final 30seconds w'the lead. No matter what your coaches tell you. Take the hash away and see what happens. Of course if your from a good program you probably already know this.
How many 3s does it take to make you give somebody a different look? I'd like to see Turner and Buford go toe to toe with the set shot artists from Iowa. The match-up has been effective this season, but there times when you must go man.
Abdullah plays his best half of the season, so he has to sit on the sideline the rest of the night? I can't figure these guys out. Gibson had about half the snaps he had in the first half as well. No help for Browning on important plays. This is a strange game. No slants the whole game...
I'm going to call t. gibson and j. hines LBs and say OSU has been playing a 3-4 most of the game. Abdullah seems to like lining up over the center. The Dline is making progress under Heacock, wish I could say the same for the Oline under Bollman.
The DEs slide down in nickel packages and Larimore would usually cover the center. Its looks like a 3-4 up front. Williams was effective in the base 4-3 especially when #s 43 and 98 lined up on the same side. I know he's undersized but this kid was getting movement on the LOS, I haven't seen a...
The staff has made me scratch my head a lot in this young season, but one coaching decision that has worked out is Smith at fullback. I'd like to see him get a couple of carries. I'd rather have Smith than a few of the FBs I've seen in the NFL this year.
They found a good one in this kid--only got a few snaps against Troy today, but beat the first guy in front of him almost every time. The one time I noticed he couldn't get any pressure he tipped the ball at the los. He's a keeper.
I'd rather be a part of Buckeye Nation after yesterday's fiasco, then have to show up for work on Wall Street tomorrow. It seems Lehman's rescue fell through--counter party obligations are gonna cause havoc. It could get ugly.
After the FL loss I assumed Tressel knew what went wrong, and that he knew how to address it. After the IL loss I figured you just can't fix everything in less than a year. After the LSU loss I started to wonder whether JT recognized what the problems were. After last night I'm convinced that...
