'05 CA QB Jason Forcier (Michigan signee, transfer to Stanford)

Clevebucks- nice analysis

Just one thing to add- Evan Sharpley could be a player for the ND QB spot. So even if Schoenhoft goes to scUM, Sanchez to USC, ND may go with Sharpley which could make tOSU the choice for Forcier.

Agreed buckskin, it seems like we could be playing a game of hot potatoe with some pretty good quarterbacks. Nice to see so many quarterbacks interested in midwest teams. It was also good to see an update on Bill Stull and get his reasons for not attending OSU's camp. Sounds like we're still right there with him. He might end up being the last resort guy. I can remember a couple of years when we didn't have interest from anyone of his talent. In the end, I am just glad to see us in the game this year.

QB Forcier

From years past when tOSU struggled to get a good QB, this is a welcome change. We are right in the thick of it for the #1 QB in the nation, a Elite 11 QB, and Forcier and Stull, both great QB's. Add to that, 2 of these guys are from Cali, I love the way JT has built tOSU int a recruiting force nationally. We got 2 great highschool QB's in Zwick and Smith, but they were both from Ohio. We are supposed to get them. Getting interest from Sanchez and Forcier is a lot of fun to sit back and watch.

UCLA insiders premium

I noticed this wasn't posted but it has a few interesting notes on Forcier.

He said that he was 2nd on the list (to Schoenhoft) for ND, MSU and scUM- "not tOSU"

He says he is waiting on a ND offer-he seems to like the Irish (from reading a number of articles) and if Schoenhoft goes elsewhere, the Irish would be my guess for Forcier- especially if ND is telling Jason he is the no. 2 choice over Sharpley

Nice find, 86.

The part about being "second" on ND's, UM's, and MSU's list, and not "second" on OSU's, isn't really surprising, as OSU undoubtedly has Sanchez no. 1 and Schoenhoft no. 2. Jason may very well be no. 3 on OSU's list.

However, Jason did seem to be very interested in ND.... If Sanchez and Schoenhoft both go elsewhere (which is very possible), then it would be a shame to lose Forcier to ND.

actually you could say the same thing about ND- who have also offered Sanchez and Schoenhoft- my guess is that for ND and tOSU- Sanchez and Schoenhoft are an "either or" so they are both considered no.1 while in ND's case Foricer is no. 2- not sure who is the true no. 2 for tOSU??

Good point - Sanchez and Schoenhoft are probably no. 1A and no. 1B. I would no assume that Forcier is next in line, but who knows - I suppose that it could be Stull.

In any event, Forcier may be speculating a bit on the schools' priorities.

Thanks for the info, CleveBucks.

I know that Schoenhoft is from Ohio and is more highly-rated that Forcier, but it seems to me that Forcier, as a dual-threat QB (2,738 yards passing, 1,473 yards rushing) might fit JT's system better. Heck, if JT would run CK 10 times a game, what would he do with a truly mobile QB?

I agree with LJB. I want us to pursue this kid because he is very mobile. If we have a qb that can run that fast and have a good arm it will give defenses headaches. I wanted us to go after this kid more than schoenhoft but I would like to see both in this class. IMO Forcier will be pushing for PT in a couple of years. I have always prefered QB's like Steve Young or John Elway that have good feet and great arms.

is it just me or is this recruiting summer unbelievably entertaining??

maybe its because this board has so many knowledgable recruiting posters?

dont know a whole lot about either RS or Forcier...but i have to admit i am intrigued by forcier and his mobility....RS seems too similar to boeckman to me....

I would tend to agree with that analysis. It's nice to have quarterbacks that bring different things to the table. Forcier would definitely provide more mobility than Boeckman or Schoenhoft and he's got a pretty good arm to boot.

ND got QB Evan Sharpley tonite.

And within hours they got a commit from a 3 star WR.

Not that we don't have a nice stable of WRs, but it would be nice to see the impact a 'name' QB would have on WR recruiting. You look at the kids who have almost pulled the trigger the past couple of years and you gotta wonder if a Sanchez, Schoenhoft or Forcier would have made the difference. (No disrespect intended to Zwick or Smith.)
