'05 FL RB Conredge Collins (Pitt signee)

MililaniBuckeye said:
People tend to forget about Haw because he didn't play this year. Keep in mind that he's got good size (6'1" and 210, and probably has bulked up a few pounds in the weight room), and ran a proton-accelerator 4.21 40 at the Ohio State summer camp prior to his senior season in high school.
Well, since I'm getting schooled in most other ways, I'll just pile on myself:
- What the heck is a proton-accelerator 4.21 40?

My newbie status to the world of recruiting is causing most of this (not that you need any convincing as to my lack of wisdom).

What's odd is that Collins stated a little over a week ago that Miami was out of it:

"Miami is pretty much out of it at this point. They want me as a fullback and I want to play running back." BSB link

I wonder if Miami has changed their tune or if he is starting to accept that most teams are looking at him as either a fullback, or at best as a big back that can be paired with a smaller, speed back? Maybe Conredge has accepted that most teams are not recruiting him as a "featured" back? And I wonder why FSU pulled its offer?

But after talking things over with his dad on Sunday night, Collins says he is probably going to tell the Buckeyes he is ready to commit to Ohio State.

Call me crazy, but the timing of this really bothers me. First, I don't want anything distracting Wells from OSU. Now we have Collins saying he wants to be a Buckeye just days before Wells announces- more fuel for GA Tech coaches.

Next, I love Collins and want him very much to be our "big back." But the guy said Miami was out of it, then Miami leads, then he's ready to commit to OSU without visiting? Sounds like he's upset about FSU pulling the schollie, Miami wants him to play FB, he seems to want to play in Fla. What gives? I hope the coaches tell him to think it through, make his visit this weekend, and then let us know.

The last thing we want is this affecting Wells or Gwaltney and then having him decide he can stomach being a FB for Miami. That would make us 0-3. The timing is so bizarre for this. I'll bet the coaches will be caught off-guard by this turn of events.

mo wells is fully aware of the fact that osu is looking to take a big and small back in that class. he said such after his official visit. i dont know what the deal is with fsu, but collins put miami as his leader after they told him he could play rb now that gore had left early.

Wells is already a done deal...DONE.

If anything, if this commitment is accepted by the staff, it should clue you into where the staff feels we fit with Gwaltney. Rumor has it we are third in a two horse race...

Conredge is a solid pickup

his clips on Rivals reminded me of Byars a bit...lowered shoulders and head between the tackles...a shoulders back and a little more upright running in space. He could be a great replacement for the departing Brandon Joe.
