Washington Post Write up...

McCoy Chooses

St. John's All-Met linebacker Rico McCoy will announce today that he plans to play football for Tennessee in the fall, McCoy's father, Reggie, said.</NITF>
<NITF>McCoy, who will be a team captain for the East team in today's U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio, chose the Volunteers over Ohio State. He made 118 tackles and rushed for eight touchdowns this past season for the Cadets.</NITF>

Anyone else think its fishy that his dad would release the info on the eve of his son's big day?

I understand the wells situation as it was known where he was headed but someone blabbered and so everyone had to report it. But it seems as tho no one knows where he's headed, so it makes no sense for his dad to steal his thunder.

I'll believe it when I see him don a UT hat. Until then, I would say a website article that no longer exists holds no weight.

I you look at what Rico McCoy has said in the past,he was aware of the great chance at OSU to learn from the talented LB class and liked the facilities and coaching staff. But he also said he was concerned about the allegations against OSU.When you consider he lives in D.C. and the "talking heads"from PTI write articles for the Washington Post, along with all the garbage coming from Espin;I think that's why he chose the Vols.I think this is the first case where a recruit has been affected by the negative press.I would have loved to have had him and wish him luck with the vols, but am sad that this appears to be the deciding factor.
