Although the DB class for this year is quickly filling up, I think Smalls may be in the AMW category (meaning we take him regardless of who else is in the fold at that position). Tressel's philosphy on recruiting places far fewer restrictions on players due to position, which I think makes it possbile for us to take the best players available a lot of the time.
I would love to see AMW, Daniels (SS/OLB), Lenix (SS/RB/OLB), and Smalls round out this class in the defensive backfield. Throw King in there too (wishful thinking)...

Just noticed on the roster link from BN that there is another kid from Small's HS on the team. I assume he is a walk-on.
I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere and thought it could be a factor in Small's tOSU interest.

Smalls lists Ohio State, Maryland and Penn State as his top 3. Smalls says he wants to play on an aggressive defense and does say he believes the Buckeyes defense is the most aggressive of the 3.

According to Emfinger, Sean Smalls had a great 7 on 7 tournament earlier this summer, on both sides of the ball. Max also lists him as the #6 WR on his Ultimate Super 7 database.

Rivals Premium - Buckeyes lead for Virginia DB
Ohio State and scUM currently lead to land Smalls' services with Ohio State having the slight edge. He watched the NC State game and commented our defense looked strong. He's not sure how many official visits he will take at this point.

The kid is a sleeper from everything I have read about him!!! His stock keeps rising on all the major recruiting websites. He kinda reminds me of Youbooty when he was being recruited by us.

Totally agree Brutus.
This kid definetly has big time player writen all over him. You have to think that having a player like Smalls display a consistent interest in OSU for was a possible factor in the unexplained Myers-White situation from a few days ago.

a recent update from BN on him says that he hasnt heard from the osu stff for a few weeks. Bollman is recruiting him.
As for stats, i thought rivals had some season stats for him, but i could be wrong.

interesting that another top DB siting tOSU slacking interest... which implies the staff is really focusing on those last 8 or 9 scholies... one can only assume they must feel their odds are pretty good in landing the creme-de-creme ELITE
