'05 WI LB Travis Beckum (Wisconsin signee)

Schools on both he and Beckum's list are Miami, Tennessee, and Ohio State. Considering

Henderson hasn't decided where he's going to visit. they play at Oak Creek you have to believe Miami is the favorite if they really choose to go to the same school.
I did do a poor job of expressing my point. Miami seems to have few schollys
to offer at Bekum's position. The thread I linked had 16 posts and noboby even mentioned Beckum as an opition.

As I recall early in the recruiting process, many felt Beckum was a Miami lock.
Beckum may have to start looking in earnest at schools other than Miami.
Given our defensive tradition, and depth at Lb after next year, I would think we look pretty good.

There are quite a few florida kids that are very high on miami at these respective positions. Although it is only speculation on my part, I would guess that miami would be more likely to heavily pursue guys like moffett, and adkins or morley.

That is just my opinion. when recruiting kids at the same position that seem to be of equal caliber, I would tend to give priority in-state. Hopefully osu will be the beneficiary of such. Finishing 2nd with anderson last year could help us.

Well, his teammate Raymond Henderson is very high on LSU per his last insiders update.

It looks like the concern over them being a package deal to Miami is starting to decline. If they are a package deal anywhere, it will be to tennessee.

About a month ago I brought up that the posters on the Miami recruiting board showed little interest in Beckum. That appears to have changed:

Re: Projected Class 10/24/04
I think the difference in Bobby and RJF is going to be Willie Williams and Kenneth Phillips. If those 2 guys are here, I think RJF will be also. He also wants to stay close to his brother Celhomme who is autistic.

Re: Projected Class 10/24/04
I'd take that class in a heartbeat. The only thing I differ with is if all of our linebackers return next year, I say we take 1, or 2 at the most in this class. I'd swap Stewert for Owens at dt, and Moffett for another tight end or either Hayes or Clay.

Re: Projected Class 10/24/04
Ya they had a story about RJF and his brother on Fins TV a few days ago. He said " I want my brother to be able to take care of him self If I cant stay home for school like I want too." How many more points does he need to qualify?

Re: Projected Class 10/24/04
My ideal class would sub Owens, Bright/Udofia, and Victor Harris for Moffet, Stewart and Codrington. Also you'll probably have to replace Youngblood with Kerr.

Re: Projected Class 10/24/04
I only left Bright out because Mike said he has grade issues. I think we can only afford to take one guy like that this year that may have to defer, and that would be RJF.

Re: Projected Class 10/24/04
youngblood and hardrick are very good shots, barney obviously. bw had his scholie withdrawn due to some questionable jumps in sat scores. also rumors that someone else had taken it in his place. very wierd to say the least.

In a Rivals premium video Beckum and his teammate, Raymond Henderson, both say if a school wants one of them they'll need to offer the other. They plan on taking all their visits together. Beckum has played WR, LB and has punted for Oak Creek this year. The only school they mentioned in the interview that they will visit is Tennessee.

these two keep talking about a package deal, but henderson keeps professing lsu to be his leader, and they havent offered beckum. often these kids talk of package deals but they never really happen. osu could sure use both however.

Beckum is quoted as saying Wisconsin has been his favorite for the last couple weeks. Wisconsin is recruiting him the hardest and he feels he could contribute there. He will still take his visits. Hopefully getting to see The Game in the Shoe will help the Buckeyes gain some ground.

If I were a blue-chip LB from Wisconsin, I'd definitely being looking real hard at Wisconsin with that killer defense they have...
