'06 CA WR David Ausberry (USC signee)

Sure seems like a waste of time and a lot of money going to the OSU camp if he's "non-publicly" committed to USC. Like I said, I don't know what else to tell you. :roll1:

Yeah, well Teddy Ginn flew out to SC two or three times on his own dime to check out what Petey had to offer.

Doesn't Ausberry still have family out here?

I thought Ginn visited USC unofficially after a track event in California? I'm sorry, but a high school recruit would not travel across this country to visit a school on his own dime if he already had his mind made up!

I am going out on a limb and saying we get him. And, if we do, he is th only WR we bring in this year. We are too stacked at WR with the young, speedy guys (Ginn--possibly a 4yr player with attitude and love for the university, Amos, Dukes, Hartline) whereas we only really have Lyons and Robiskie as our big wideouts. Roy Hall is due for a breakout year and should show all of the guys like Ausberry how guys like him will be used in our offense. Now, bringing in David and then maybe athletes like Cumberlad and Small who can also play WR would be a huge coup, but I have a feeling Ray gets his looks at CB and Jeff as a TE/Flex WR-type.

One other reason I thiink he may be visiting Columbus, is to try to capture some old memories and see if he misses anything about the place, so If I were the USC staff I wouldnt sleep on the OSU visit because it might be easy for him to get attached to such an honest staff and comfortable surroundings.

David has 14 offers so far and says USC, Ohio State, Michigan, Georgia, and Nebraska are his schools of interest. Again, he says USC and tOSU are his leaders, but he plans to take all of his visits before deciding. Academics will play a major role in the decision. He will camp at USC and tOSU.

David calls USC, Ohio State, Georgia, Nebraska, and Michigan his top 5. He insists that he is not a USC lock and will research his top schools to find the best fit. He also had great praise for Coach Fickell and said tradition will play a major role in his decision while distance will not.

we'll get a gauge of how interested ausberry actually is very soon.

i would say that if he doesnt come to camp at osu, regardless of if he decides to take an official here or not, that he's usc's to lose.

if he does come to camp here, maybe osu has an outside shot.
