'06 OH OL/DT Aaron Brown (Virginia Tech Signee)

Take this for what it's worth

I spoke to someone who spoke to Aaron's dad. Our chances are not good. As of right now it's Va Tech. ND's start has caught their interest. Aaron cancelled his Louisville trip this weekend in favor of a trip to ND.

everyone relax...we'll all know where Aaron is headed in 22 days. no sense in trying to decipher what dozens of different people are saying they have heard from one random source or another...and no sense trying to read between the lines when comparing an article about his auburn visit and his osu visit. considering the articles were done by two different people they are obviously going to be different. it's not like the same questions were asked or the same quotes were chosen to be in the article.

If you have followed his recruitment, its been very hard to judge where he is leaning. His parents have kept a close wrap on the process and it has been a positive experience for Aaron because of that. Like Wadc said previous, this one will keep us guessing into October. We will know soon.

Wad, I agree we'll all know in 3 weeks but Cralvo remarks aren't too far off the mark. The main reason ND has crept in because of what's happened recently. No one has ever doubted that ND is a fine academic institution and that's important to the Browns. It's close and that is important. Aaron has grown up in an urban setting. Personally I don't know how well he would transition in the heavily catholic tradition that is Notre Dame. If Charlie Weiss can't assure Aaron the opportunity of early playing time, ND becomes less appealing regardless of it's traditions. The OSU visit went well with the Browns but according to George not Aaron, the OSU staff were not as accomodating as the Auburn people were. To me, some of the complaints were trivial, but as a die hard Buckeye fan, I can't really say I'm the most objective confidant. Regardless, Aaron is not going to Auburn. What is most important between now and Oct 6th are the coaches ability to persuade the Brown's that their program will provide ( I can't prioritize these, but I know they will all factor):

Academic support
The opportunity(assurances not guarantees) to play early
Proximity
Winning tradition
Rapport with the O-line coach, other staff
Aaron's "gut" feeling on where he would be the happiest

As you can see OSU matches up favorably with others that Aaron is considering. It is up to the staff to CLOSE the deal.

My point was to compare the info posted on Aaron after the Auburn visit and after the OSU visit was like comparing apples and oranges. There is too much info floating around that cannot be adequately substantiated and every "insider" has an opinion on where he is headed. When you have polar opposite opinions like Duane and Chris Pool on a recruit such as Aaron, obviously someone, and most likely just about everyone, is not really getting a very good read on the situation. And so my advice as someone who has seen a couple dozen Aaron Brown's come and go (meaning his recruitment, not talent-wise) is to sit back, not try and read between the lines, take everything that is posted with a hint of skepticism and optimism, and trust in the fact that in a little over three weeks this will all be over and we can all find another kid to stress over...
