'06 VA WR/CB Damon McDaniel (Florida State signee; transfer to Hampton)

I'd say we have a chance - this is not the same as the Gwaltny fiasco from last year, as it seems McDaniels verbal to UF is one that he will not honor, and that he may not even have a chance to. I generally think that if a kid verbals somewhere, but then looks around, he is likely to stick with his original verbal if he has the chance. This case seems different, so I feel like we have a chance. Either way, we have an outstanding class coming in as it stands today.

FWIW, this kid will most definantly NOT end up at Florida, that isnt just speculation. Urban Meyer is moving on without him, he had his in-home visit with fellow WR and teammate Percy Harvin, and didnt stop in to see Damon McDaniel, even though they live in the same city. Meyer is moving on, its either FSU or OSU for him now.

i think someone has already stated this, but FSU is becoming notorious for their misuse of talent on the offensive side of the ball. Jeff Bowden's playcalling has been sketch at times and Bobby Bowden just paces the sidelines with no headset basically letting the assis
tants coach. That being said, I pray Damon comes to Columbus, but Bobby Bowden's "charm" probably wins in the end.

I get frustrated when I think of all of the other schools that are thought of as WR schools, when you look at our history (recent as well as long term) we must be near the top for producing pro WRs Carter, Galloway, Glenn, Boston, Jenkins, and now Holmes (those are just the 1st rounders, and Budweiser may have had me omit a few) Damon come to tOSU and reach your potential. It propably helps playing against one of the best defenses in the country every day in practice (lets not get into our CB list) :io:

Alex Rose officially verballed to FSU today after switching his verbal from Auburn.

The noles have 18 commits. They have 5 commits that are early enrollees so they will not count against the 25 limit this week. They are expecting a few NQ's, leaving them room to pick up 12 more kids.

They feel really good about landing a lot more players, tho it looks like McDaniel is the only WR they are talking about that is still on the recruiting board.

Well, today Alex Rose de-committed from FSU to re-commit back to Auburn.

I think we are over emphasizing the importance of the existing depth chart or how many kids in this class are committed at the same position to the same school. A player of Damon's caliber is not concerned with who is committed where nearly as much as we are making him out to seem. He is going to play wherever he goes...and nearly every coach is telling him that too. He is going to make the decision based more upon the relationship he has with the coaches, how he feels about the school's atmosphere, location, size, how many players the school sends to the NFL, etc (the kinds of things GrizzlyBuck and others have been mentioning). I think those factors play a much bigger decision in a young man's choice than whether or not Alex Rose is also going to the same school...

I wouldn't look to that as a sign that he might be scared off, but maybe as a sign that F$U knows they aren't getting him possibly. All is speculation at this point though.
