'07 AR RB Broderick Green (USC signee, Arkansas transfer)

I think he is PSU bound. Chris Wells will be the man for 2 more years, and they are the same type of back.

If he's the same type of back, the two could be a great duo... I think it's clear we are going back to "I formation", three yards, and a cloud of dust next year... we could use as many road graders as we can find (just hold on to the ball!!!)...

Saine could move to WR, Mo Wells is gone after next year, and C Wells prob. has two years left... as many RB's as we have, we really don't have that many... there is def. room for all (including Boom)...

Jim Tressel has been trying to get the spread to work as long as he has been the head coach. Why do you think he is just going to dump all of that work and go back to hand off right and hand off left next year?

That being said, if Green comes to OSU with Saine and Boom backing up Beanie Wells...hand off left and hand off right is not a half bad idea...

FYI, an SC insider I respect believes Green would beat out every back we have (currently and committed), so long as Green can learn the offense.

That is nice to hear...but dude is on some good drugs if he thinks he could beat out Chris Wells.

JT facilitates his offense around his best talent. With the receivers we had last year...and Heisman QB, of course JT molded the O to the spread. Before that...with Krenzel & MoC...you noticed that our O looked entirely different. JT is known to make use of the best weapons he has...that's what he does.

With a new (most likely pocket-passer) QB, a stud RB and a fleet of young receivers, expect to see a whole lot more ground game. Beanie will be one of the best backs in the nation this year and if Green would choose to come here, I'd be VERY willing to bet he'd get a solid number of carries in blowout W's.

But here is the problem as I see it...

JT has been working this spread for 3 years.

He was tinkering with it even back with Krenzel at the helm..

Todd has been working the spread for how many years now?

Robbie for two years...

Henton is a spread quarterback!

I would agree that we could see some more pro set offense next season, but the spread is going to stay.

Not that this belongs in this thread, but JT works with what he has. Tresselball is a myth. If he has Maurice Clarett, he has a running offense. If he has Troy Smith and Ted Ginn, he has a spread offense.

Look at how long Todd and Robbie have been working with the spread offense.

Look at the last quarterback OSU brought in.

If you can, go back and watch a few games from '02. You might be surprised how often JT had WRs all over the place...I was...seeing Brandon Joe running past routes was interesting.

-Sorry about the wrong thread, I'm used to scout and Bucknuts:biggrin:

I have a very hard time believing that methomps... No offense to you or Green, but you have 4 RB's with experience and a year already in the system, and are also bringing in at least 1 (maybe 2 if McKnight verbals) RB in Marc Tyler that many feel are much better than Broderick at this stage... I just don't see where all the carries will come from to keep those guys in the fold... I understand some can move to different positions, but that may step on some toes as well...
