'08 OH DE/TE Greg Scruggs (Louisville signee)

Just listened to his speech on the audio clip.......... wow.

I am extremely impressed with how well spoken Greg sounds, and how mature and grounded he comes up as. His character and humility alone should be reason enough to get him to tOSU to be a part of the football team.

A very fresh breath of air from a lot of the prima donnas who talk about themselves in third person, view college as a stepping stone to the pros, and expect to be given everything (i'm not saying that all athletes are like that, but are definitely those ones out there).

If you want to see some more Scruggs film go here for the X v. Lasalle game:

View by sport | Waycross Community Media

Waycross is a great company that broadcasts all of X's home games for a lot of sports. They use to have other X games up on their site but right now it only looks like the Lasalle game is there. Greg Scruggs is #5 and Julian Posey is #85 on Lasalle. Also, here are some other young bombers to look out for next year:

Jr lb Luke Kuechley #3
Jr de Pat Muldoon #39
Soph ol Matt James #78

I'm thinking more and more teams are seeing how quickly Greg's potential in the first game of the season has turned into on field production as the season has progressed. He creates havoc for opposing teams now. Absolutely dominates. And he still has so much upside. It's scary to think just how good Greg could be if he had played all through high school and how he will be in college. Downright scary.

X... do you have any idea how big of a Buckeye fan Greg is?

He likes OSU, but I don't think this is going to be a case of him committing on the spot once he receives an offer like some kids.

A few thoughts on his recruitment at this point:

-The Michigan offer is insignificant other than the fact that it'll probably lead to more offers from big schools. After the way Michigan's staff treated Rob Schoenhoft following his commitment to tOSU, you probably won't see any Bombers heading to Ann Arbor unless they grow up as Michigan fans or don't get any other big time offers. Lack of foresight on Vloyd's part, he really opened up the door for OSU to get most of X's big time players.

-Louisville and OSU are the two biggest players for Greg at this point. I wouldn't expect Louisville to go away either, seeing as how Stephon Ball and Darius Ashley also have offers there. These are Greg's two best friends, and the guys that convinced him to play this year in the first place. Louisville has long been Darius' favorite, and there has been talk of those three all heading there together. However, twice there have been articles where Coach Specht or Darius himself have said he was probably going to make a decision soon, one combining that with Fred Craig's imminent verbal to Stanford. The fact that both times nothing happened leads me to believe it was somewhat of an attempt to get more offers for Darius, so he might not be completely enamored with Louisville. If Darius heads somewhere else, they wouldn't be nearly as attractive of an option to Greg.

-Given that Greg has said he isn't going to take officials until after the season, the landscape could change dramatically before it comes time for him to make a decision. I think most people expect to see a lot more big offers coming his way, so all there really is to do at this point is sit back and watch the offers pour in.

From the Cincinnati site...the Bearcats are the latest to offer, joining Louisville, Tennessee, Connecticut, Wake Forest, North Carolina State, Miami (OH) and Michigan. Discusses whether Darius Ashley's decision to commit to Louisville will impact his decision or not.

I can't help myself..this is quite amusing in light of his other offers.

why is this amusing?

Rutgers got a local kid and one of the top OL in the country last year (Anthony Davis) who had offers from the likes of USC, OSU and many other power house programs.

UC is probably on equal footing or better than 3 of his 7 current offers.

Miami (OH)
Uconn
Wake (may be better than UC right now..but certainly no football power house)
