I can't see a spot being held for Vlad or Newsome. We are not an SEC school and take 32 players only to hope somebody doesn't qualify. I don't think all the corners will stay with four guys being committed. If one of those guys leave I would hope to take "The Hitman". I have my choice to who I would give up out of the four, but I don't want to come off as mean. With that said I feel Hall, Berry and Watt probably have spots held. Now is the time for a early signing period if there was one. :oh::io:
The staff isn't going to "give up" a committed recruit in order to chase someone else ... at least, I hope that they learned their lesson from the DaJuan Morgan fiasco....

No one is talking about 32. 28 is the max number, I would think. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Big Ten rules let conference teams go over 28 in any given year (though I seem to remember Minnesota taking something like 31 last season). Keep in mind, as far as our DBs go, we're looking at just about a 100% turnover over the course of the next 2 years, and some of the incoming kids are going to choose to redshirt. Others will likely end up on the other side of the ball.

I thought it was 25 but could be wrong. I also hope I'm wrong and can keep everybody with some more additions down the road.

25 is the max number in a given year, but if 3-4 of the '09 recruits come in early they will count against last year's 25...the real number we are talking about is the 85 limit. Any number the staff goes over 25, it will be because they think they can fit kids in and be at the 85 limit...not because they expect some kids not to qualify. This staff doesn't offer kids who can't qualify.

Don't Big Ten rules allow a program to sign up to 28 kids in any given class (aside from early enrollees) so long as the program provides a written explanation to the league detailing how it will get under the 85 total limit once the season begins? Sorry to divert this further, and maybe this should be moved, but I've always wondered about this b/c I've heard so many different things.

Vlad will not be left out in the cold...trust me. And both Glenville guys (Hall and Newsome) have been told they have spots set aside. If we go over 25 (which we will), it will be because we can slide a kid or two early and thus be counted under the 2008 class which numbered 20. C.J. Barnett is one who plans to graduate high school early (he's enrolled in summer school right now to do just that), so right now 26 signees is possible. Thus, we're not pulling an SEC...

Don't forget about Howard, Johnson, Evege, Gant, Scott, Oliver, Pentello, Checkwa, maybe even Clifford?

Change your tune a bit... Do you feel at bad at all for, oh how should I say this, not being so kind to people who were suggesting this last week?

If you're trying to be a jerk, you're doing a great job. Keep the discussion on Vlad...
