'09 IL OL Chris Watt (Notre Dame Signee)

Rivals $

3/9

By EdgyTim...Duke and Miami (FL) have offered. Missed his OSU visit due to weather and will reschedule for either later this month or April.

Rivals $

3/10

From the Northwestern site...mostly about the factors that favor Northwestern (Chris' brother, location, etc.). Talks about his recent visit to Evanston. In addition to OSU, he is planning to visit Iowa, Illinois, Stanford and Virginia and says he won't wait long to make a decision.

Chris Watt plans to narrow down his choices soon and would like to make a commitment before the start of his senior season. "I'd like to have a top five in April, maybe May at the latest," Watt said. "I want to focus on my senior season, so I'd like to decide before then. The main things I will be looking for is to make sure that I get along with the coaches and the players..."
He says the school that is recruiting him the hardest is Notre Dame. "It was a really good experience at their junior day," he said. "I've been to a game there before and I love the atmosphere there. The tradition is amazing and the academics are second to none. Not a lot of schools can compare to Notre Dame in tradition. They've had the national championships and a lot of great players have gone there. Everyone knows Irish football. They have fans all over the country.
Watt reports an impressive 4.3 core GPA (with honors classes) and is taking the ACT in April.
Seems like we have our work cut out for us. Any updates XP?

Kid's all about Notre Dame.

"They've had the national championships" In 1781...

"They have fans all over the country" By fans do you mean folks (recruiting forum :) ) who couldn't even spell Jimmah Clausen who say "Notre Dame rulesssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"?

Anyways, I'm going to pencil this kid as an ND commit as of right now. Enjoy going 3-9 kid

I wouldn't count the chickens just yet. Last I heard, Chris is supposed to visit tOSU accompanying '08 commit Garrett Goebel on an official visit this weekend. Unless that has changed, we've got a great shot.

Haven't heard from you in a while, Brian (XP). What's the good word with Chris??

Apparently Watt is enjoying ND (Rob Ianello, Recruiting Coordinator) attention. This approach (Constant communication, hard sell & pressuring) really annoyed Garrett and ultimately removed ND from Garrett's "Top Three Choices".

IMO the critical factor will be Watt's visit(s) to Columbus, getting to know the coaches & players and being comfortable with everything OSU offers!! I believe that Watt's parents are ND supporters BUT a visit to Columbus could open their eyes to the Buckeyes. Maybe Watt is concerned about getting early playing time which may have been offerred @ND (Less competition on O-line compared to OSU)

However the high level of competition@OSU was a big reason Garrett felt the Buckeyes were the best choice to become the best he can be by practicing with top players on daily basis. Each kid handles the recruiting process differently. Garrett liked OSU's "soft sell" and the fact that the Bucks offerred Garrett early meant alot on a personal basis to Garrett.
