'09 IL OL Chris Watt (Notre Dame Signee)

Agreed if we do miss out on Watt , Prior would be an outstanding 2nd choice .

Interestingly enough, scout's ND affiliate posted an article about Prior too, so it appears the mirroring of this recruitment extends beyond Watt.

Watt is slated to visit South Bend this Thursday, from what I've read over at the Gold Helmet.

Just my opinion, but I see no rush in offering Longo right now. Let Watt decide in July...Longo will wait to see what happens and since Chris is deciding soon, it won't be long. I really like Longo and would love to see another Bellbrook kid as a Buckeye, but I truly think Watt is the best guard in the country, along with Alajan (spelling?).

I agree with you completely. There's no rush, IMO, to offer any more OL. Wait until Watt decides in a few weeks and then if he picks elsewhere offer one of Long, Prior, etc.

It doesn't look like Prior may get an offer....Longo is certainly next in line. There is speculation that he (Longo) may already have an offer.....not sure what that means? Has Watt moved on?? Or will we take both Watt & Longo? Where is XPUNISHR????

That's what bothers me. You think he'd be here giving us a heads up.

Are you really bothered by this or just being daft? This isn't about you, or him...it's about the recruit, and when HE feels its OK for info to be provided, then XP and others might say something.

Could be what Skipper alluded to, in that no news is bad news for the Buckeyes. Or, the most likely scenario is, that it might simply be too many degrees of separation, so XP may not be comfortable posting about him as he was with Garrett. I wouldn't read into that so much when it comes to Watt. A lot can be lost in translation between Watt talking to Garrett, who would then talk to XP. Guessing thats how any info would go because I don't see Chris going to XP for advice, for obvious reasons of bias and that he's got his own family there to go through the process with. It wouldn't surprise me at all if Chris was more open in talking to Garrett and others early in the process, but would clamp up the closer it gets to decision time.

I guess my real point is, there are a LOT of potential reasons why XP wouldn't chime in on Chris, and reading into it is probably just a crap shoot.

From my understanding of the situation, Watt has been and does go to XP for advice throughout the recruiting process.

I would like to clarify one point regarding why Chris Watt (& family) requested my assistance in helping to manage his recruiting process. Due to my familiarity with numerous programs / recruiting coordinators as a result of managing my nephew Garrett Goebel as well as a former teamate of Watt's they (the Watt family) realized that it can only benefit the recruit to NOT PUT THIS ENTIRE RESPONSIBILITY ON High School Head coaches. Fortunately for Chris, Coach Hetlet has done an awesome job getting Chris recruited. After OSU offerred Chris I realized that in all fairness to the Watt's I HAVE TO BE OBJECTIVE AND NOT ATTEMPT TO PERSUADE HIM TO BECOME A BUCKEYE.

Also having been familiar with the Buckeye's recruiting if I was to pressure Chris I would be working against OSU's low key approach.

Overall my involvement in Chris Watt's recruiting is VERY SIMILAR to Garrett Goebel's.....sending out his film, following up to make sure film is viewed..THE REST SELL'S ITSELF DUE TO THE RECRUITS SUPERB ABILITIES!!!

It doesn't seem like bias one way or another is a factor in this at all.

I agree, however, your scenario is quite unlikely in my opinion, I think it has more to do with the fact that XP undertands that blabbing about one of the most important decisions in an 18 year olds life on the internet is not a way to earn trust and respect from the 18 year old and his family.

Also, Tressel, who is infamous for shutting down people who are close to the program and like to post information on the internet, may have gotten to XP.

No matter what the situation is, it's silly to be upset over lack of posts from XP regarding the matter, just like it will be silly to be upset about Watt's decision if he chooses someplace other than OSU. Sometimes people need to take a step back from recruiting and take it for what it is, the highly personal and individual decision of a recruit and his family, and not something to get upset about or take personally.
