#1 Ohio State 68, Penn State 60 (Final)

wtf is up with OSU not crushing state penn?

this was the worst OSU game I've seen (in person) by far. I'm sure it's been discussed earlier, but man was that tough to watch.

Anyways, I'm happy with the win. But, I do not like seeing inferior teams hang in games with Ohio State. The tournament will have many land mines who are inferior yet more talented than PSU.

Something I think it insteresting about this team is that they seem to rarely blow out teams who it would seem they should be able to, yet they havn't been upset by anyone this year. While it would be nice to see some blowouts against teams like PSU, I think its important to remember that this team has yet to be upset by a lesser team.

Matta bristled when asked if it was an issue that prized 7-foot center Greg Oden only had nine shots against an undersized and seemingly overmatched opponent.

"It's a pretty good issue," Matta said, before spitting out an expletive. "We're 25-3. We're doing a couple of things well here. Yeah, I'd like to get it in to him every time down the floor. But we're 13-1 in the Big Ten and 25-3and I'm sitting up here like I don't know what the hell I'm doing tonight."

Not alot from tonites game, but I have a couple thoughts...

Nice game by Butler, he was knocking down the shots, hopefully it carries over to Sunday and beyond...

Matta won the game when he went with the small lineup of Conley, Butler, Lewis, Cook, and Oden. We started to pick up the tempo and Lewis and Conley got some easy baskets and then Butler took over from the outside.

Harris and Lewis need to find their stroke and find it soon...

Hunter = not enough minutes, did he even play in the second half?

Other than that I don't think you can take a lot from this game. For whatever reason PSU seemed to play their best games against us this year, they really took great care of the ball and knocked down some tough shots. They are just an undersized team that gets overmatched thus the reason for their bad record, but they are a pretty solid game. I figured we would come out flat and we did, but we will see how good this team is come Sunday...The Schott will be Rockin...

watching an untalented psu team (redundant, i know) give the bucks fits with the zone, it's evident that molinari should win a "dumbass coaching decision" award for sticking with man defense this last sunday. as we've seen game after game, no team's primary defense against osu should be anything but the zone.

Ohio State escapes Penn State, 68-60

COLUMBUS ? It's a good thing Ohio State didn't play Wisconsin on Wednesday.
The Buckeyes ? again ? barely got by the worst team in the Big Ten.

Ohio State twice trailed by eight points before rallying past Penn State for a 68-60 win in front of 18,957 at the Schottenstein Center.
"Penn State is the best 1-12 Big Ten team I've ever seen in my life," said Ohio State coach Thad Matta, who seemed annoyed at questions about why Greg Oden didn't get the ball more.

No. 2 Ohio St. 68, Penn St. 60

2/22/2007, 1:20 a.m. ETBy RUSTY MILLER
The Associated Press
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) ? The mystery of the invisible 7-footer continues.
Jamar Butler scored 18 points and Greg Oden made the most of his meager touches to score 17 points and grab 14 rebounds to lead No. 2 Ohio State past Penn State 68-60 on Wednesday night.
It was the second time in eight days that the Buckeyes barely held on to beat the worst team in the Big Ten. They did it without involving Oden in the offense. He was almost unstoppable ? when he got the ball. He only had nine shots from the field and just four of his six baskets came on entry passes.
