Like 22 said, if ND is the leader their insiders and staff sure aren't aware of it.....

Actually that is the current feeling in both camps. He's also scheduled to be at ND this Spring. The delusional opinion that the elder Montana is opposed to Nick playing for Weis is right there with what was said about the McCartney family. Probably even more so.

I don't know where he is going. But some of the spin coming from OSU "insiders" has been and remains way off.

You recruiting Paul's kids for the band?

Do you mean the McCarthy family? I know the McCarthy boys from Mooney go to ND.

I know some poor things have been written about Paul McCartney's ex wife, but I didn't think they were being recruited by ND. That is troubling.

ND insiders that play it "straight" were still saying, as of yesterday...

"Still looks likes he ain't coming here".

And i'm not talking about how anyone feels about Weis....

It's just hard to believe that a legacy with a clout name like Montana might just be interested in playing football somewhere other than South Bend!!!! What with all the "tradition" (4 Horsemen, Knute Rockne, Rocket Ismail) Did I miss anything?

Think about this from another viewpoint... Nick is being pretty savvy with his recruitment. He's taking into account a lot of different things, including depth chart. So here's a couple of things working against ND:

1. Depth Chart-- Clausen for a year, then Crist for 2 leaves Nick at most 2 years as the starter in South Bend. Here he's behind Pryor for 1, maybe 2 years, then it's clear here.

2. Other offers-- ND has offered several other QB's and is pursuing several in addition to Nick. Meaning that they haven't been able to put in the time with him that some of the other schools on his list has or will.

Insider I am not... but most important IMO

Question to the Insiders: Nick Montana is the most important guy in this class, right???

I believe that Nick is a close second in this class with Joyner at the top of the list. Nick will grab the attention of the nation if/when he commits to tOSU and that should open some doors to other recruits, not to mention solidify the QB position for the foreseeable future... both important things.

LJ on the other hand is a prolific player who will not only ignite our defense from day one, but I imagine will also bring along other significant commits (like Riggs his STA teammate) to really take our D (see secondary) to another level... not to mention this new talk by Southcampus via Genron about Dunkley... IMO more impact now and greater impact over his stay at tOSU.

Both great, will be doing cartwheels if/when either commits, head might explode if both committed on the same day... I admittedly am more enamored with LJ, just can't get over his highlight vid!

:oh:

I think anybody on the OL and DL are first and then start ranking everyone else. The game is won in the trenches.

We're already off to a great start on the lines with Moore and Norwell, and with the offers that are known, Seantrel Henderson stands out as the major OL recruit at this point. I'd say that if you're looking for a lineman who'd be the most important pickup that he'd be your guy.

QB is the most important position on the field. Plus, have you bothered looking at our class? All of our commits can play on the line of scrimmage.

I see Henderson as a bonus. Matt James is more important.

Hmmmm I thought OSU was starting to recruit spread-type QB's, unless Montanya can run.

Would we be going after him if his last name wasn't Montanya.

Do you really think we'd recruit a lesser QB because of his name?

Doubt the coaches would show interest in any kid from California if he couldn't play, no matter what the last name is.

You don't recruit a specific type of "system QB". That's the way you end up recruiting yourself into a corner (see scUM in about 2-3 years). Besides, Nick is very capable of running a "spread" offense. You don't need to have TP's mobility/agility to lead a high powered spread offense (see OU and Bradford or Texas and McCoy) Also, as far as his name, look at his offer list and some of his highlights, the kid is legit.

Truthiness.
