'10 CA QB Nick Montana (Washington Signee; transfer to Tulane)

Our QB situation scares me. Especially with the current offensive line situation. We can't fail to bring in a top guy next year.

Just as long as we are recruiting one a year, I say bring a kid every year. Not like Tressel doesn't have four or five extra scholarships a season for walk ons. Appreciate what they do for the team, QB is not a position I feel your third stringer should be a walk on.

There's now one of those type of threads that I frequently create, relating to this prospect, in another forum. I'm betting that those who are interested will be able to find it. It's open until noon ET on Monday.

Definitely some good options for Nick. I like our chances here but this is the first I've heard of Washington as an option. Can't say I'm not concerned about his interest in Washington with their current depth at QB and their recent additions to the coaching staff.

Not to mention they are probably going to get Jake Heaps this year... BIG time QB from Washington, rated as one of the best this year.

I just cannot see him in the SEC. My money is on Stanford (if he doesn't become a Buckeye, let me hasten to add), as his family lives in the Bay Area, and Jim Harbaugh is doing some great stuff in Palo Alto, as well as being a QB. Plus 5* recruit Tai-ler Jones (?) is committed to Stanford.

Don't know that he'd last long at U-dub, as he's not fast enough to avoid all the linemen that would be pouring through the porous O-line up there.

:gobucks3::gobucks4::banger: However, I hope he becomes a Buckeye, he hastens to add.

Diddy doesn't see Stanford.
Great school, beautiful campus, proximity, rising coach however one big "but".

Depth Chart.

RS Frosh - Luck (son of Oliver) appears to be the heir apparent.
True Frosh - Nunnes was highly regarded.
They have a QB commit for the class of '10 and have offered a handful of other QB's.

I was unaware that Heaps had high interest in the Huskies. Here's to hoping he verbals there quickly:drunks:
At this point, ND, UGA, and tOSU seem to be the names I see popping up the most. Buckeye-ism aside, our program seems like the obvious choice if your looking at depth chart. It doesn't seem that distance is going to play a factor and even if he denies it, I really don't think Nick, or his parents, would see it as a good thing to be competing for playing time against his older brother. Throw in the discussions about Joe not exactly seeing eye to eye with sir-eatsalot and it just doesn't seem like a perfect fit. I'm yet to find a reason against tOSU.
When I look at his top 7, I see this:
Notre Dame- Very deep at QB position, future is very unpredictable with respect to coaching. Great tradition, brother on team, that sort of stuff.

Georgia- Depth Chart is crazy deep but just had a 1st pick in the draft QB and tons of receivers and TEs in the system is enticing

Stanford- Not a 1st tier, or a second tier for that matter, program. Program on the rise I guess you could say but some questions about whether Harbaugh will actually stay there. Great education, still in Cali. Still, I don't see this as what Nick Montana would fit into.

LSU- Great program, in the SEC. Depth chart is a question mark. Just brought in Russell Shepard but is he going to be playing QB? Education is pretty iffy.

Washington- Program that is under new leadership and will undoubtably be heading in a more productive direction under Sark and company. Still not a good program currently and will have their work cut out for them. Left coast location and I don't know much about the depth chart or who they are bringing in.

The Ohio State University offers stability (unlike Notre Dame), a lacking depth chart (Unlike Georgia), a top notch education (Unlike LSU), and a top notch program NOW (Unlike Washington and Stanford). I think we win this one.

Stanford and Washington? Hmmmm. Many believe he'll stay on the west coast.

Georgia, LSU, and Alabama...I don't think there is much to read into geographically. Mom wants him to stay close but just about all moms do. I still think we are the top choice but I don't think it's over. Much of the guesses at this point seem to be speculation.
