Perhaps there was other adult supervision on this trip.

I dunno, I know a big group of seniors from my high school who just went down to Panama as well and they had no supervision at all. They were mostly 18 year olds, but still in high school.

Regardless, there's not much that could have been done. RIP Matt

Apparently was climbing around on the balcony...got persuaded to try to jump into the pool from three stories up and missed. Sad sad sad. Thoughts & prayers.

Oh my god. Horrible, horrible situation all the way around. Every parents worst nightmare. Thoughts are with his family.

After reading some posts on other sites I have even more respect for this site, the moderators and how they keep Buckeye Planet a respectable site. I haven't read a single distatsteful comment here, but I can't beleive how ignorant and irreverent some people are being on other sites, mainly Notre Dame sites. I don't care who the kid commited to, whether he jumped or slipped, etc. The fact is that a 17 year old kid died and that is a horrible tragedy. Even though Matt decided it was in his best interest to go another route, I would not be the slightest bit surprised to hear that Tressel reaches out to the James family. I can't imagine what they are feeling right now.
