'10 OH P John Lloyd (Cincinnati Verbal)

Week 10 Update

Last Friday night was a really rainy, windy one. John punted three times in a CHCA win for an average of 41 ypp, long of 53. Darn good, especially considering the elements.

OK, gotta share this. With the wind at his back, his last punt during pregame warmups traveled 99 yards - from his own goal line to the other 1 yard line. I saw it and his dad has it on tape. Also hit another one just before that that went through the opposite end zone. Don't have that one on tape, though. Unreal!

First Team All State

John was named AP First Team All State. His 44 yards per punt average led the state for the second year in a row. If Ohio State doesn't step up soon, he's likely going to end up at Arkansas, Tennessee, or Cincinnati.

I don't really understand why John doesn't have an offer, especially after pursuing Hangerup the way we did before he verballed elsewhere.

A punter is a need in this class, right? I think you'd be hard pressed to find a better high school prospect than John, and he's a local kid from here in Ohio. 44 yards a punt? We could have used him THIS year!!

Lloyd selected to North-South game

Posted by mdyer January 7th, 2010, 8:24 am

CHCA senior punter John Lloyd has been selected the Ohio North-South all-star game on April 23 in Columbus. Game starts at 5 p.m.

Lloyd was Division V first-team all-state this season.

?What a great honor for John and the CHCA football program,? CHCA coach Eric Taylor said. ?He has had a tremendous three years as a varsity starter and this will be a great way to cap off his high school career.?

Taylor said Lloyd is the first CHCA player to compete in the North-South Game.
