Gregory's recruiting will benefit Flyers

I went up to coach Brian Gregory privately after Dayton's loss to Xavier last Sunday and said, "I really think your team maxed out today."
Gregory knew what I meant, that he couldn't have gotten much more out of his personnel than what he did that day. And while he started to point out things the Flyers could have done better, he couldn't protest too strongly.

And Adreian Payne, a 6-8 sophomore from Jefferson, is another player to keep an eye on. He has a close friendship with Staten and Wright and has been a frequent visitor at UD games. Ohio State and Xavier are in hot pursuit, too.

Well, that was educational.

Back to Mr. Payne; if Hairston has been offered and Payne has not, the staff obviously sees something in Hairston's game that they do not see in Adreian's. I hope that changes, because I hear nothing but good things about Payne.

I think the majority of us are baffled by the lack of offer to Adreian because, like you, everything that I have read points to their skill sets being very comparable and with Payne being from Ohio you would think that would weigh in his favor. I do not know if academics is a concern here or not. That might be the reason for the lack of an offer but I am just guessing at that with nothing to back it up so....
