'10 OH TE Alex Smith (Kentucky signee)

I don't understand why we wouldn't offer the number one TE in our state. Fiedorowicz (?) isn't coming here, Welch is going to ND. It's not often that an extremely talented, athletic, pass-catching TE wants to come here; now we have one sitting in our laps. The best one in our state and top 10 in the whole country but we don't offer? I am sorry, but I can't understand this thinking.

We may offer later on, but I guess I'm saying that I think we already should have. And if we don't offer at all, or wait too long, I'm going to be really dissappointed. It just seems like we're looking for this type of player, but he's sitting right in front of our faces and we pass on him?

Edit: Actually, an hour ago Fiedorowicz committed to Illinois.

He was at camp...and he is carrying much more weight than you see in that film. There is no guarantee he is the same player. The staff got a great up-close look at him. If he tore it up at camp, there would be an offer.

I saw that recent article had him at 250 and while I highly doubt he is that heavy, he looked barely 215 against Wayne last year...he must have packed it on in the off season and if he did, bad move. He is so athletic there is no reason to just wait and add good weight at the next level.

As someone else said in another recruit's thread, this is not the staff with whom to be playing chicken...

To be fair to Alex, not sure at all that a game of chicken is being played here. He can't really commit to us without an offer, and if/when the time comes that he gets that offer, he may be sold somewhere else. We have waited long enough to let him figure out his own situation, and if we still loom at the end, then that is just plain one good movie.

Going by the statement, "if the Buckeyes wait much longer, he cannot say if he will be interested", that sounds a bit like an ultimatum to me.

I guess it's an ultimatum if the statement is directed at the OSU staff?

I also think A. Smith is operating on his own timeline, something in the lines of wanting to make a decision before the start of his football season.

That is like saying that if Megan Fox doesnt go out on a date with me, then I might just stop day dreaming about her.

It maybe an ultimatium, but who is really listening.....think about it

You're conveniently leaving out a timeline. By saying, "if the Buckeyes wait much longer", he's implying "offer me soon or forget it".
