'11 MD PF Mikael Hopkins (Georgetown Verbal)

Ross is definitely more of a 2G than a PF.

Though many refer to both Hopkins and Williams as PF's, or 4/5's, in this class ( and overall ) there aren't a lot of true post Cs around anymore. So while many talk about them as PFs - they'd probably play plenty of C in college in reality.

Let's hope we can entice at least one of those two.

:osu:

Pushing back his Kansas trip may not be such a bad sign really. It probably means one less visit he'll make somewhere else before the Nov 1st decision date.

2011 TOP 150 UPDATE: MIKAEL HOPKINS
October 4, 2010 by NBE Blogger

Checking in at #38 in the NBE Post-Summer Class of 2011 Top 150 was versatile DeMatha big man Mikael Hopkins, long a favorite prospect in the class of NBE.

Hopkins just finished up a visit to Kansas this past weekened, but his recruitment still seems to be anybody?s game according to his AAU coach, Keith Stevens of Team Takeover.

?There?s really not a top five,? Stevens told NBE?s Matt Whitfield this morning. ?The schools he?s looking at right now is Virginia Tech, Georgetown, Ohio State, Kansas, Miami, Texas and West Virginia.?

This past summer it seemed as though Hopkins got better every game NBE saw him play with Team Takeover. He has developed into one of the top big men in his class, with the ability to back a defender down and finish with post moves or shoot mid-range jumpers with his face-up game. He is not afraid of thicker, stronger defenders and shows confidence when turning to the basket. Defensively, he is very athletic and can block shots and rebound. Hopkins also runs the floor well.

?The biggest improvement with him was that we finally focused on what his ?niche? is and that?s the fact that he?s a highly skilled finesse big versus a power big,? Stevens told NBE?s Ray Mernagh in our Team Takeover Post July Update. ?He really focused on catching the ball either in the post or on the wing and facing up his man and either would hit the J or use the blow-by dribble on strong closeouts and dunk on people at the rim.?

Now, seven schools are hoping he brings that game to their program. One ACC program is up next in their attempt to woo the talented Hopkins according to Coach Stevens.

?I think he has a visit to Miami this weekend coming up,? said Stevens.
