Agreed. A National Championship is a realistic scenario during Urban's tenure. Arizona or Notre Dame for that matter inside Neal's college career is next to impossible.

What cooler statistic could there be? Ball boy for the NC Buckeye's and star contributor for the Buck's next?.... That would be Columbus Dispatch front page material, and then "Breaking News from ESPN" imediately following..

UA coaches may or may not convince Scottsdale Chaparral High School star Davonte Neal to pick the Arizona Wildcats over offers from Arkansas, Notre Dame and Ohio State.

But at the very least, Neal will feel at home when he visits Tucson Feb. 10.

Chaparral linebacker Cody Ippolito verbally committed to the UA on Monday, giving the Wildcats five in-state prospects heading into Wednesday's national-letter-of-intent festivities. That number will almost certainly grow as Arizona rounds out its football recruiting class over the next two days.

Neal, a wide receiver and the state's top-rated player, remains the program's top target. And in that regard, Monday's news was especially encouraging.

Ippolito is Neal's best friend and closest confidant - though, he was quick to say Monday, the two are not a package deal.

"Me and him, we're basically brothers and we want to go to the same college together," Ippolito said. "But he has to do what's best for him, and I have to do what's best for me. We both have to do what's best for our lives. Whatever he chooses, I'm going to have to back him 100 percent.

"We're going to be in contact with each other, even if it's across the country or if it's in-state. Who knows where he goes?"

I think the more directions he is pulled in the greater and greater chance the law of average kicks in and he decides to stay home. Just hoping Meyer can continue to build the needed realtionship.

How good is Neals bestfriend? Is he a kid that Arizona would want regardless of friendship?

If he's not that good then I wonder if there is any chance he is announcing after signing day so that he can sign his letter of intent to Arizona before picking a different school?

Neal is taking his time, enjoying the process.

Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly and two assistants pulled up in a black Escalade during an in-home visit. The next day, when Neal flew in to Arkansas for a recruiting trip, he was picked up in a black Escalade.

He had an in-home visit from Ohio State coach Urban Meyer last week that may have put the Buckeyes in the lead for the two-time Gatorade Arizona Player of the Year. But Oklahoma came in with a late push, fueled by the hiring of former University of Arizona defensive coordinator Tim Kish as an assistant and with his ties to Neal from when he recruited him at UA.

Now Neal may make UA an unofficial visit and Oklahoma his final recruiting trip the weekend of Feb.10.

"I like to know that there is a school that wants me that bad," Neal said.

Red flags, anyone?

Nothing against Neal, it's just that attitudes like that is what led to the tatgate situation in my opinion and I would prefer to steer well clear of it.

Also, I predict we are going to have a lot of fun with this
