'12 OH DE/LB Ifeadi Odenigbo (Northwestern Signee)

Free Scout - Midwest Recruiting Notebook

ODENIGBO SETS A DATE: Centerville (Ohio) four-star outside linebacker Ifeadi Odenigbo says he will make his commitment public on January 7. He says Stanford, Northwestern, USC, California, UCLA, Ohio State and Notre Dame are the schools in contention. He has taken official visits to Notre Dame and Stanford, and will have his to Northwestern this weekend. He is uncertain about taking his remaining two officials.

Or possible he feels IO is a lost effort at this point? Honestly, if he pulls Spence or Pittman, I won't be hurt if we don't get IO. He's a great player, but everything has this trending away from us. He's just not the normal Centerville recruit.

Scout $ - Odenigbo Talks Irish Visit & More

11/30

Talks about his visit from Coach Hinton...hasn't heard from UFM...talks about his official to Stanford, will take one to Northwestern and says he is waiting to see how things shake out at OSU.

Coach Hinton, huh? Well that could be interesting... but strangely not concerned about Odenigbo... could be that I've never counted him as part of this class...

Two things I thought I would add, as I've been able to get good info on Ifeadi. OSU has always trailed and he isn't your typical Centerville recruit. Urban will certainly get some recruits that JT would not have, but Ifeadi is one we would have a much better shot with JT still here. I expect him to pick Stanford, maybe ND, but adding Hinton soon and Urban getting involved COULD change that. We've got a ton of ground to make up and I don't think it's going to happen, but it's not impossible. The other thing is that this is a bummer. Ifeadi has just a ridiculous ceiling...basically Thad Gibson but more potential imo. Some coaches at Centerville feel he is the most gifted player to come through the program.

Ifeadi was just featured in an American Family Insurance commercial during the Purdue game. It talked about how he wants to major in computer science.

There were brief comments from Ifieadi, his parents, D-line coach Pat Roncagli and from Centerville HC Ron Ullery.

If his ultimate goal is to end up in the tech scene, Stanford and Cal would be GREAT spots for him. I believe Berkley has one of the "Big 4" CSE programs and I'd imagine Stanford is either one of those 4 or really close.

Stanford, Bezerkely, MIT & CMU are the big four...by a wide margin.

Best in the B1G are Illinois & Wiscy.

Ohio State is right at the edge of the top 25 (there's not really a huge difference between the schools in the #10-#40 range).

Edit: CMU = Carnegie Mellon

I was at a bar in Centerville last night when that aired. The sound wasn't on so i couldn't really tell what they were talking about. It was weird to look up and see Centerville on ESPN.
