Is it time we start thinking more in terms of H-Backs rather than TEs?

I can't help but notice the number of scholarship FBs on the roster (2 seniors) and the fact that Tim Hinton's duties cover both positions.

IMO they'll probably use the H-back/TE position as the new FB position. Doubt you'll ever see a true FB ever recruited again if that's what you mean. Hinton will be coaching it as a hybrid position from now on I'd assume. The FB is going the way of the DO-DO with OSU after Boren and Ross's brother graduate I hate to say. I will miss the human anvils that OSU has produced over the last 40 or 50 years or so not to mention some could run the ball well when given the chance. Brockington, J. Otis, S.White Jr, Johnson, Boren and on and on and on...it's too bad but the way it goes I guess. As it is, I would love it if Withers comes back with an offer from McNeil :osu:

This. This offense will utilize the h back as another weapon. Defenses will have to take in account yet another weapon on offense. That's the beauty of a spread attack, they can hit you from all angles. Everything is open game.

Indeed...should be interesting to see Stoney, Heuerman, and Vannett (possibly Boren on occasion) get wide open and see what they can do in the open field. This year will be cool to see a change for the better with the offense throwing effectively. Trust me I'm not disappointed in the loss of the FB or Dave (right, left or up the middle) out of the ole I. It will be much better suited to go after Baugh and McNeil types who are similar to Stoney but faster and more illusive. I'm excited...can you tell lol:biggrin:

If Baugh or McNeil is faster than Stoney, it's not by much. Stoney used to be a wideout in high school. He's got really good speed, especially for his size. I agree, it will be fun seeing Stoney get loose in the open field.

Wow, I'm guessing Ben Koyack isn't impressing anyone up there.

My ND contact tells me they are recruiting Josh as an OLB. I'm not buying it though... I told him that they'd be the only ones in the country doing so.

Seems ND is "conveniently" trying to recruit TE's for other positions (Matuska, McNeil) to keep Heuerman as their "only" TE recruit...

Video by Simmons....Still open, but has a top 6 in mind and plans on releasing that soon. Plans on visiting those 6 schools in June and possibly making a decision after the visits. Looking for early playing time.
