Thanks for the link I did not realize that there were guys older than me posting on this board. CinciBuck must be really old.

I believe you are right Packer gave Lucas a judo chop to the knee and that's why he couldn't play much in the 62 championship game.

I remember when Lucas was a senior in high school and they played for the State championship up in Cleveland. Anyhow, I didn't think anyone could beat Cleveland East Tech but Middleton one with Lucas. Fond memories or, since I was from Cleveland, not so fond.

Wasn't it Middletown, old timer?

I graduated in '60 and remember Jerry and them all very well. What a great ball team I had started being a Buckeye fan watching Cassady. Then when they won the NC that was just great. And then to get beaten by Cinci twice in a row sucked.
I once saw him on a game show. It was the very first million dollar game show and he had memorized the bible and was selling them.

Steve, hope Sherry drove so you could use both hands! down by the riverside. great parking place, could see bushwhackers coming from any direction, and more than one fair lady .....never mind, this is a family channel. Still take my daughter down to the park for a walk while we visit C-bus. Always beautiful anytime of the year.

:gobucks3: :gobucks4: :banger: Heck, I played for Whetstone (basket and baseball), so maybe I teed it up against your Gramps! I remember we lost in City League (badly) to East with Eddie Ratliff, Bo Lamar, and Nick Connor (Long Beach State & Lakers, some college in Lousiana and Lakers, and Illinois and Washington respectively).

1961: Lost to Cincinnati 70-65 in title game.
1962: Lost to Cincinnati 71-59 in title game.

Just sayin': That's when I started to dislike the Bearcraps (i.e Juggalos).

The 1959-60 team was the G.O.A.T. Buckeye basketball team. The next 2 years were still pretty good teams too.

Of their three teams to reach the Final Four in consecutive years, this was the only one to hoist the big prize.

Loaded? It featured two future Hall of Fame players (John Havlicek, Jerry Lucas), two future HOF coaches (Fred Taylor, guard Bob Knight) and dominated four NCAA games by 19, 17, 22 and 20 points.
