Game Thread (2004) Game Seven: Indiana - 10/23/04 (W, 4-3/1-3)

Pittman was running with his head and looking for the holes... Ross runs into the gaps waiting to be hit by a defender. When Ross is back he may still get carries but Pittman needs more against stiffer competition.

Final Stats:

22 First Downs
440 Total Yards
161 Passing Yards (32 in the second half)
282 Rushing Yards (142 in the second half)

Smith was 7-14 in the first half for 129 yards, he was 5-10 in the second half for 32 yards.
Pittman/20 carries for 144 yards/7+ypc ave.
Holmes/4 catches for 42 yards

Carpenter had the lone interception.

Not much new as far as the passing game goes, we seemed to not complete any passes in the second half.. the running game flourished beyond belief today, like normal against Indiana.

Was it me, or did those dropped passes help Indiana out A LOT? I think Smith was on target for a large portion of the game. He overthrew a couple long balls but some of those should have been caught. I'm very pleased with our ability to sustain drives. Hopefully we'll see Smith/Pittman get the nod in a game that should be more challenging (Penn St.).

Wow, some of our young D lineman got in that last Indiana drive and they looked fired up and got tons of pressure. Was that Indiana's 2nd string OL? In either case, perhaps some of them will be seeing some significant pt next game.

Smith and Pittman looked pretty good. Nice to see the fire Pepper's kid is bringing to O. He's excited on every play. Dionte blocking, with a steady dose of Pittman with Joe for the tough yards seems like a good idea. Barton may not be great yet either, but I like the fire he brings to the line.

Playcalling is much better though I still don't agree with taking so many shots down field. Seems to cost us crucual downs when this team just needs to work on sustaining drives.

I like the enthusiasm the young kids are bringing to the rest of the team. Seems to be affecting the older guys positively too. I don't care if it is Indiana; nice to see some positives:)
