Game Thread (2004) Game Seven: Indiana - 10/23/04 (W, 4-3/1-3)

Interesting how Smith is already being put in a can't win position...

By the way, Indiana did beat Oregon on the road, and took that NW Wildcats team to overtime just like us, so let's not count our chickens.

How is he being put in a can't win position? Quantify that statement.

Agreed...Smith himself is hard to judge this week but what is your take on the team's response this week? There seems to be more effort all around...

The substitutions might light a fire...that is what I am looking for

I'm happy to see a huge swing in effort (as far as I'm concerned), and I have to attribute that to the younger guys coming in. Make no mistake, I've pointed out some negatives because those are what I'm concerned about coming into this game -- but there are some improvements to be sure.

Troy throws a nice ball, and I think his mobility behind sketchy protection is going to be a big plus. He's getting a HUGE boost from Pittman's success. If we can run, we're going to be able to throw. If we can't run, life is going to suck.

I'm simply stating that no matter how well he plays today, it's going to be followed by "it was Indiana". I fail to see how he is going to be able to win today - thus no-win. I'm sorry if logic is problem here.

I said from the beginning that if Smith plays well today, he deserves at least the start next week. And from the beginning, I mean against the BN crowd.

I'm with you on all points there...

I could care less who is the starting QB but the effort of the team is noticeable...
