Game Thread (2004) Game Ten: @ Purdue - 11/13/04 (L, 6-4/3-4)

wonderful game so far...if you're a Purdue fan. 6 possessions: 5 3-and-outs. Not sure if I want to watch the rest of this one. Hmmm...it's either that or crawl around under the house putting plastic down. Which one should I choose....

jesus christ we must lead the country in letting other teams get a first down on 3rd and long. what good does it do for us to get anybody in 3rd and long if we are gonna play that dumbass zone defense and not put any pressure on. this has to be the hundredth time somebody has caught a wide open pass with no pressure on the quarterback after we made 2 great plays to get them to 3rd and long. i cant take this anymore, where is the pepto bismol. and speaking of pepto dismal play calling. we give it to joe up the middle for nice 5 yard gain then come back with the exact same play. for god's sake 2nd and 5 means smith has two tries to pass for 5 yards. any other division I school would convert on those kinds of situations. 6-6 here we come

The only difference I can see in the Smith/Zwick battle is that defenders drop Smith passes thrown right at them. The offense looks as shitty if not shittier under Smith than under Zwick.

Can you tell I'm frustrated today? Watching this God-Damned team is like getting a fucking root canal.

either put in zwick or at least let troy throw the ball down the field. something good might happen if we throw the ball downfield 3 times in a row. either somebody actually catches the ball or we get a defensive penalty. he actually has time to pass today so throw the long ball, our two best offensive players are ginn and holmes, let them have a chance to make a play. 3 incompletes wouldnt be any worse than 3 miserable and out runs/short passes.

this is what i was afraid of. we're one more quarter from having a qb controversy yet again. our db's need help bad. they are getting pounded on. well let me refrase, our lb's are getting toasted by wr's. thats probably a little more accurate.

as much as i was pro zwick, you have to give smith to the end of the 3rd atleast before you pull him. he hasn't turned the ball over. he just isn'tdoing anything. god this is a horrible time in the season to have an impotent offense and a beat down backfield.

edit: people its halftime, not 30 seconds left in the 4th... there is still half a game to be played!

now i see why they didnt let smith run past the line of scrimmage in the spring game.

he looks at the primary receiver, tucks and runs.

Martin, you're right. There's still another half of football to be played. It's getting colder outside, so I'm not choosing the plastic and, instead watching the game. Smith's getting enough time to throw, but when they spread out the defense with 3/4 WR's, he's running QB draws. Not much sense there. Take some shots down the field, hope someone on your team catches it, and make a first down. Momentum is such a huge part of sports, and Purdue has all of it. They'll get the ball to start the second half and the Buck's need to stop them deep, get some field position and take that momentum back.
