Wow is about all I can say. Who would of thought that Butler would of pulled the 3 upsets they did over Notre Dame, Indiana, and Tennessee.

Then you had Zaga upsetting UNC tonite. What a hard fought game that was. Zaga is a good team about 6 deep and then after that is where they run into problems. They were up 15 and let UNC back in the game. Mainly b/c of depth.

This type of matchup for the NIT final (Zaga vs. Butler) would of never been expected a couple years ago with two midmajors upsetting the teams they did. Granted Zaga is not a mid major no more, but they still come from a mid major conference.

As for UNC I am not overly impressed with them. They are a very solid team and we are going to have our hands full, but overall I would say that Cook>Ellington and Conley>Lawson. Both the UNC guys were rated higher.

Hansbrough had an off nite while the big guy for Zaga(forget his name) really played a great game. Also the freshmen for Zaga Bolden is going to be a good one. He is another one in the long line of long haired white boys for the Zaga program.

There have been quite a few upsets so far. UNC and Kansas being two of the bigger ones going down.

Right now I would have a top 2 of Florida and UCLA. Everyone else seems to be feeling there way.

Also we play Tennessee later in the year. After seeing them tonite play horrible basketball and turn the ball over about 30 times against Butler(not exactally your pressure up in your face Defense). I don't think they will be in the top 25 much longer.

I also like what I have seen out of Ga Tech in the early season with Young and Crittedon(sp?) have shown, even tho they ran into a very tough UCLA team tonite.

The Bulldogs of Gonzaga will face the Bulldogs of Butler tonight in the NIT championship game in New York.

Ohio State WILL be #1, the question I have is, Will the media put UNC in the #2 spot? 1) because their loss came earlier in the week, to a ranked opponent also and 2) to create more hype around the game. We've seen them do this in college football with the Ohio State-Texas game. I think we may just see it here also!

They could very well rank them just to see that, also.

I'd like to see that, and IMO Ohio State has the edge in this game... It looks to me that UNC is turning the ball over way too much, Ohio State needs to step up and shut down Hansbrough and Wright, but I think Othello Hunter and Matt Terwilliger could handle them. It will be a very interesting game!

Another HUGE game coming up for Ohio State is right before Christmas against Florida!

It's funny...but right now, without Oden, are we really the #1 team in the country? What have we done to earn that? It'd be fun to be #1, but part of me kind of feels like we should have to do more to deserve it.

I guess I really don't care if we are #1 now...hopefully we are #1 later in the season. If this team is the best in country without oden...then what does that make us when he comes back?

GO BUCKS!

I think this team is very strong even without Oden. With Oden, that just makes the Buckeyes scary! He could potentially be back for that game against Florida which would be HUGE... His return was expected back by early January, but due to quick recovery he's expected back by mid-December now.

Taking a look at this week's current Top 10 (coaches), only Ohio State, Pittsburgh, UCLA, Alabama and Texas A&M survived the week without a loss.

As far as moving up goes, one knock on OSU is that we haven't played ANYONE, and both Florida and UNC lost to Top 25 teams.

However, I am going to take a slight issue with 27 here. Yes, hoops polls don't work like football, but last week Kansas got dumped nine spots, from #3 to #12, for their loss to Oral Roberts. So it's possible that OSU could get elevated to #1. Of course, it's also possible that voters thought that Kansas was already a weak #3, and think that we're a weak #3 also.

The only other Top 10 teams to lose thus far are G-Town (dropped from #8 to #16 this week) and Arizona (dropped from #10 to #16 last week).

One thing to look at is the voting point totals. We're 99 points behind Florida, and 63 behind UNC. That means that we have to move several spots on a LOT of ballots. The average ballot has us two slots behind UNC and three behind Florida, roughly. We must be splitting places with UCLA, Pittsburgh and others on quite a few ballots.

Don't discount UCLA passing both us and Pitt. UCLA had a good week, with two solid wins over ranked teams. They've got the best resume so far this season.

What I DON'T see is how you dump Florida below UNC for losing in OT to Kansas. Florida played well and looked good, whereas UNC didn't, and lost to a much lower ranked team.

Either way, it's best for us if those teams don't drop too far, if at all. They certainly will be two of the top teams in the country this season, and it would be a shame if we played them at their lowest ranked points.

We shouldn't be #1 (yet), and I think that smart fans shouldn't want to see us with that bullseye on our backs at this point.

I know the arguments. This team is very good without Oden, but we probably aren't the #1 team in the country yet. We haven't played anyone of real substance. North Carolina is tough at home.

Won't bother me at all if we lose a close one but I think we could win it.
