I am not sure about Teddy being the number one pick.

If we were talking a real game I would say heck yeah, but Teddy is the type of player that isnt going to be on the field for the whole game in a game like this.

That is why I go with a stud like Beanie. They are going to get him a ton of carries in a game like situation. He has the most value in this draft.

With 1.) the "watered down" play book that will be used and 2.) the limitations that will be placed on the QB (i.e. Troy) and 3.) the limited # of snaps that players such as TGII will take / the coaches desire to get some of the younger guys game play, I completely agree that someone like Beanie Wells (or even one of the other RBs) should get loads of work and could end up game MVP.

Having said that, if for no other reason than getting "props" from his teammates I'll still say Teddy gets the call #1. (But Beanie would be my #1B, and could easily get the nod and RBs start the draft as you've said)

Next position: LB
Pick #1(team 1): Marcus Freeman
Pick #1(team 2): Chad Hoobler*
Pick #2(team 1): Larry Grant*
Pick #2(team 2): James Laurinaitis
Pick #3(team 1): Ross Homan*
Pick #3(team 2): Curtis Terry
Pick #4(team 1): Austin Spitler
Pick #4(team 2): Trever Robinson

I agree w/much of what you said, but not w/your LB projections. IMO, the order is
1. Freeman
2. Terry
3. Laurinaitis
4. Grant
5. Homan
6. Spitler
7. Hoobler
8. Robinson

The best player isn't always the first overall pick. Once a position is opened up, they have to draft through everyone at that position before opening up another. Many times, the first positions to open up are ones where there is the greatest drop-off in depth in the two-deep.

I'll bet that WR and RB ARE NOT opened up first - just because those two positions are both loaded.

If I had the first pick, I'd be picking Defense early.

All very true, and this would be a logical way to go about the draft...(especially possible if each team's coresponding coaches are counseling the Seniors on picks)...but most of the Senior "leadership"/those drafting is coming from the offensive side of the ball.

So will Troy Smith and Justin Zwick look at the injuries to the DE and DL positions and grab a bonefide stud there before getting themselves their #1 WR target?

Will Datish and Downing prevail in getting a battering ram for their RB (i.e. "Beanie") to make their lives easier in the run game?

I think the Offensive-minded Seniors will start with what they know best and go that direction first...then again they play against the D every day and probably have a great sense of who's constantly making plays against them, so maybe Quinn Pitcock and David Patterson win out and Def. is where the draft starts.

Just playing Devil's advocate  ...man, 7 days is SO close, yet SOOO far away :2004: .

Actually, I see that as another excellent reason to open up defense first. With both teams being stronger on offense among the seniors, they will (or should) want to work quickly to shore up matters on the other side of the ball.

Spitler isn't near Hoobler imo. Hoobler impressed me alot last spring and is likely in the doghouse for some reason. I actually played against Spitler and wasn't impressed. Also, I put Hoobler at 2nd just because the one team didn't have a MLB because of D'Andrea's injury(again it's hard to guess without knowing which seniors are on which team). However, I was never that impressed with Laurinaitis and it sounds like Grant, Terry, and Homan are impressing.

Yao

Nobody has Yao in at the corner position. He's got to get some player respect. I say he goes number 2.

I'll be Haw has more player credibility than M. Wells. He'll go number two for the the RB's, but C. Wells will be number one.

Man, I just said "going number 2," twice.

Yao is a senior. I don't believe he gets drafted. I'm pretty sure that the seniors do the drafting.

Can't see Beanie going as the first RB drafted.

Sorry, but these guys are more than objective spectators: they're a family. Trust and experience is going to go a long way in the draft.

Despite the fact that Beanie might have the most upside, I think that they draft EHaw, MWells, then Beanie.

The seniors, I think, will trust maturity and gametime experience over a couple of impressive practices.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but a couple of impressive practices was all it took for a certain other freshman RB to be the first RB taken in the 2002 spring game. Perhaps Beanie doesn't go first (I think he will) but I would be flat out shocked to see him go third. Just an opinion.
