2007 NFL Draft (Projections/Mock Drafts/Evaluations/Draft)

We also hurt a division rival by doing this. Baltimore was getting ready to make this exact same trade until Cleveland swooped in at the last minute and did it. Baltimore's staff and Clevelands must be dumber than you.
Unless that is the Cowboys bluffed the Browns?

NFL Network said that Quinn was on the phone with Baltimore until the Browns called back the Cowboys and said they would do the exact same deal that Baltimore was going to do. Obviously the Cowboys would rather do it with Cleveland b/c they have a higher 2nd round pick.

Then it isn't the same exact deal.

Regardless, I believe Cleveland was bluffed, plain and simple.

BTW, I like glass one-third full stance on the value of the pick to the Browns. I just don't agree with the notion that Cleveland needed to spend so highly to get the goods.

bottom line is that cleveland was quite likely to be picking a qb in the early 1st round next year.

what you have to ask yourself is whether or not colt brennen and brian brohm are better than brady quinn. the answer is no. that was logic behind the move, and I can't say I disagree with it.

you also forget that 1. cleveland has a one time $6 mill cap bump this year that will be used to probably accelerate some bonuses thereby lessening the cap hit in future years, and 2. that without having to shell out 1st round pick money, cleveland can afford to spend a little more in FA to fill the needs you point out.

the myopic view some have of the situation is puzzling.

It might have been the Ravens who were bluffing

Well, it's more "is Brady Quinn better than Brennan/Brohm plus whoever we would take with our #2 this year"

Damned Chargers

I'd agree that Brennen has question marks (past character, currently "product of system") Brohm I think it hinges on his Senior performance, speaking of which what about John David Booty, or ... another player who shows up for a stellar Senior season?

Except that tells us nothing about the value the Ravens were willing to put on the table. (And, yes the Cowboys or Ravens or both - independently - could have been bluffing).
