2007 Spring Game (Gray 17 Scarlet 9 final)

Ok a pretty good day. Got a football fix and no serious injuries I don't think. The QB picture is still cloudy but there will be some good debate over the next couple of months.

17 points a game. Thats all our offense needs to win every week except maybe 2. The defense will be awesome.

Great job by 10TV! Broadcast looked great here in New Mexico.
Now the players..........
Lyons will be a huge factor this year and receivers in general look great.
Mo Wells looks much stronger and is breaking tackles. Looks durable, also.
Boeckman is the man. Looks solid under center.
Robbie looks like he could play.
Henton, the game hasn't slowed down for him, yet. Making plays just with his athleticisim. Not ready for prime time.
Ray Small looked great and will be a factor.
O lines were a patchwork. Nothing to read there.
The defense looks ridiculous!
Larry Grant! Wow!
Gholston(sp?)! Wilson! Rose! Oh my!
All the LBers!
Secondary looks great! And deep!
Kickers will be an advantage for us.

Agreed. Good game. Great coverage/quality over the Internet.

Players that stood out to me:

Grant - MVP imo. He went along way in solidifying a spot on the outside
Lyons - Best reciever out there today. I was very excited to see him step up. We are going to need him, and, I too, like his size and athleticism.
M. Wells - He ran hard and looked good in the open field. Seemed more patient and read his holes better.
Larimore - Seemed to have a solid day in the middle. Blocked extra point.

Am I the only one who's very concerned about the QB position after today? All three threw a few very dangerous passes. Even Boeckman seems like he has the bad habit of just throwing the ball up in the air as he's going down. That's gonna come back and hurt us in future games if he does that. Henton isnt even close to being ready to play it seemed like (but he doesnt need to be, he's still a rs freshman). Robbie made a few dangerous passes but it seemed to me like he played the best of the three QBs today (but to be fair, we didnt see nearly as much of Boeckman as we did Robbie and Henton it seemed like).

...but WOW! How about that fake punt today? It was scary seeing Trapasso lower his shoulder, but it was a fun play to watch.

Yeah you know that wasn't Tressel!
Do you mean like fourth and one against Purdoooo

Over all I thought it went well. A lot of new/newer kids got to play. Todd did what he had to do at the end to get the job done after Rob had his drive. So I think the QB setup stays the same. The hitters on D just flat out chill me, and thats great.

Mechanically the QB's look good, just decision making and execution are issues. I don't know how much of that is our DB's outplaying the WR's and the D-line crushing the overpowered O-line on almost every play. The QB's had about half a second before someone was barring down on them.

The game itself was a blast. Got to hang out with friends, relax and enjoy the gorgeous spring weather. 75,301 in attendace! Who can come close to touching that for spring ball?!
