2008 Bracketology Discussion

I've always liked them
Looking around the various mock brackets one name I see continues to perplex me, Stanford. I've seen Stanford in the 3/4 seed range in most mock brackets. According to Kenpom.com's RPI Stanfords OOC SOS is 276 and OOC RPI is 48. Both are easily the lowest of the top 20 RPI teams. No terrible losses in Siena, UCLA and Oregon. Their win over Arizona is their best win but their best non conference win is Texas Tech. I realize one of the Lopez twins missed the first semester but their resume doesn't really impress me.

I think going on the road and beating Washington State was a bigger win than the Arizona game.

Granted their OOC schedule is pretty weak, but they've been strong in Pac 10 play. They're 3-1 while playing Top 25 teams, with the only loss being to UCLA by 9...and they hung with them basically the entire game.

Looking at RPI rankings on yahoo.com, they're ranked 17th with a SOS ranking of 81st. They're 4-3 against Top 50 RPI teams, 9-0 against 51-100 ranked teams, 3-0 against 101-150 ranked teams and 3-0 against 200+ ranked teams. 13-3 against the RPI Top 100 isn't too shaby. With their schedule, I don't really have an issue with them being a 3/4 seed...but nothing higher than that. JMHO

No, I'd say come on Georgetown.... Need bubble teams to eliminate themselves

I have no problem with 'Cuse winning we beat them head to head, and I would think if they continue to win that is looked as a quality win for us...

Their RPI will go up after this win, which will make ours go up as well...

It probably helps our SOS and RPI but I don't think that the Selection Committee will remember us beating them so early in the season. I seriously doubt if they look at all the games but I could be wrong
