2008 Bracketology Discussion

I love how Duke, a team that has been headed downward in the winter months, managed to get a 2 seed.......when they didn't win their conference tourney, or regular season conference. Ironically, Wisconsin gets a 3 seed when they won both sets of conference championships. What a crock of shit.

What was the score when those two played??

I know it is not about head to head, but Dook is in the ACC and their losses were coming against UNC and Wisky was beating up on big ten...

Here are Dukes losses......

Pittsburgh
Wake Forest
Miami, Fl.
North Carolina
Clemson

Here are Wisky's losses......

Duke
Marquette
Purdue
Purdue

Sure, Duke beat Wisky back in Nov., wouldn't you say that teams change from that time to now? Wisky has not lost since Feb. 9th. In that time frame Duke has managed to get beat 4 times, with only one of them being to North Carolina. The loss to Wake Forest (by 13 points) is certainly not something that many 2 seeds have done this season. :wink2:

I think there always will be a bias in favor of Duke as long as Mikey is there. Enough said... there already is a Duke hate thread. The Committee Chairman said they did not look at conference play was that everybody was an independent.

yeah, that's it.

ESPN - Committee chair talks SEC tournament and other hot topics - Men's College Basketball

Ohio State being left out: "We looked very seriously at them. But the road record really hurt them. Only one road win against the top 100."

? On Oregon being in: "They had three really good wins against the top 100 on the road. Where you play is important. Quite frankly, the strength of schedule was pretty good."

No argument there.

Generally, I would agree with you here Tibor. And I no doubt think they committee got it right leaving Ohio State out. But Big Ten officials are notorious for giving the home team all of the calls. It's extremely difficult to win on the road in the Big Ten. In fact, that's the only reason that Ohio State beat Purdue and Michigan State at the end of the season.

20 losses and they have a chance to be in the NCAA tournament? Fuck Coppin St.

Coppin State plays one of the the toughest out of conference schedule in the country.

These were all road games:

Xavier
Ohio State
Dayton
Marquette
Indiana
Mizzouri
Kent State
Arizona State

I'm not saying that they deserve to be in the tourney, but you have to give them credit for playing all these teams on the road.

I hear ya, but where else would they play them. There's no reason for tOSU to play at Coppin St.

I have no desire to see tOSU participate in the play in game, but damn. A team with a losing record had a shot to play in the NCAA tourney. It's bullshit.
