2008 Depth Chart Discussion

I'm not so sure that Tressel has changed. His circumstances have changed. More than any year in JT's tenure, this team has depth that isn't far behind the starters. If the starters don't give 100% effort, then the depth moves up. But only if they weren't far behind to start with.
If the circumstances your bringing up are about the type of the game changing on defense, I agree with you. On offense, I agree except, the lineman. They don't recruit the faster type and cant change that now
My opinions,Tressel did change it for the PUBLIC this time . I know for a fact he gets on his players but, this year he's doing it WOODY STYLE. I hope he doesn't hit the other teams player running with the ball, on the sidelines  Its been a known fact ,he sticks with the starters and upperclassmen to give them a chance with the NFL. This year is by far, the biggest change from one game to the next that I've seen since, its been Tressel years. The last few years OSU has had some good depth so I'm missing you on that. OSU just didn't get great depth this year and like I posted before, I don't care whose playing even , BEANIE , Your a buckeye ,play at 100 % or put in the next player .

OSU's 2nd string defense to start the year had a higher median minutes-of-experience than last year's starters had at the beginning of last year.

Half of the 5-star players on the team are true freshmen.

The depth this year has a combination of experience and talent that was not there for previous years.

So how do you disagree with me then,. with the depth change like that. Yes, he could have done that before, the season started but, the staff didn't , still giving the starters a chance. This is my bar the biggest change the staff have done with past starters. Thats what I like and still can't remember that ever happening before .
I gave up on 5 star rankings years ago. If that was the case TEXAS would have about 6 titles

Not sure how this matches the data. The backups had to get playing time LAST YEAR for the amount of experience for the backups to have changed like that. So how does that translate to things having changed THIS YEAR???

So back ups taking the starters job isn't a change then, why were they not starters before , the season started then?LET ME GUESS, Tressel sticking with starters like he has every year before, this change. Name one other big time change between 2 games like this change THAT EVER HAPPENED IN TRESSEL'S YEARS ? I got NONE. All I posted was that something needed to happen or change BEFORE , THIS depth change news came out and it did. So I'm happy with that.

OK, you're not paying attention. There is no point in continuing this...

Tressel doesn't change. His style of offensive coaching changes with his talent. The coaching staff(Tressel) has realized that their best offense was the Troy Smith offense, so that's where we are heading with TP.

Besides not paying attention to what you're saying, the same can be said for OSU. OSU overhauled their offense in 04, with Smith, numerous OL (Downing, Barton?), and Gonzo & Ginn were brought along as well. Night and day difference in personnel from the Iowa & before debacles.

So the guy that won 4 national titles at YSU and another NC at tOSU has decided to employ strategies that have worked in the past rather than completely reinventing himself... Hmmmm... Interesting theory.

That cannot be up to date because Wilson is the starting defensive end and I do not believe that he will be playing this Saturday. I like the movement of Rehring to backup guard but other than that not much change from the Purdue game.

CPD

On the defensive side, Lawrence Wilson remains on the depth chart even though he left the game last week with a knee injury and was to have an MRI. But Rob Rose is listed as a co-starter with Wilson at end, which is a change.

Mo Wells #2 RB and Boom #3.
They might be listed that way in the depth chart but I have a feeling that #3 on the chart will see the playing field before #2 unless Boom still is suffering a little from his concussion which I doubt or they probably wouldn't even have been listed.
