Pens should be able to take care of Montreal.

Philly and Boston will be interesting, I think Philly has too much firepower for Boston.

Detroit over the Western Conference's version of the Capitals.

Vancouver's defense is too weak for what Chicago brings to the table. And Chicago is strong defensively.

The Capitals lost.

Predictions?

East:

Pittsburgh vs Montreal - wins in 6
Boston vs Philadelphia - wins in 7

West:

San Jose vs Detroit - wins in 7
Chicago vs Vancouver - wins in 6

Stanley Cup:

Canucks over Flyers in 6

My winners are bolded above.

I'm really liking Vancouver right now. Good scoring mix from a number of players and hopefully Luongo get's hot. San Jose is due to implode at anytime. Right now its Pavelski and a bunch of girls in San Jose and Detroit is too sloppy. Phoenix cracked in a way I don't think San Jose will.

I'd argue that San Jose has a recent history of choking that is beyond comparison in the NHL today. The Capitals are giving it a good run. I'm not saying you're wrong here, just disagreeing. :p

Or Detroit finally took a game seriously from the first drop to the end.

This year's version of Detroit has been so wildly inconsistent due to injuries and what appears to be a lack of interest at times, which is much more concerning and less forgivable.

East:

Pittsburgh vs Montreal- Pens in 7 (Halak is hot, you love to have a hot goalie at this point of the season)

Boston vs Philadelphia- Philly in 6 (I got a feeling about this one)

West:

San Jose vs Detroit- Sharks in 4 (Detroit is completely gassed after the Phoenix series)

Chicago vs Vancouver- Chicago in 7 (something tells me)

WCF: Chicago vs. San Jose - Chicago in 5 (Quenneville's arch-nemesis in the Wings, but they aren't there. Chicago will body up against San Jose and they'll fold like they always do)

ECF: Philadelphia vs. Pittsburgh - Philly in 7 (I thought Philly was going to beat them last year and they nearly did until they imploded, Philly, for whatever reason, has the same look to me as Edmonton did in 2006).

Stanley Cup:

Chicago over Flyers in 4

Good Lord the NHL is a 3rd rate failure as a professional sports league.

Not only can they not schedule games very well, but when they have an overlap, the team that is playing exactly 2 hours north of me is blacked out while the other team WHICH IS PLAYING IN ANOTHER COUNTRY ENTIRELY gets full view....

Add to that they have an entire network "devoted" to the NHL and they couldn't put the game there? WTF kind of crappy TV deal is that shit? No wonder this league is failing, they aren't getting ALL their best teams seen on TV. :shake:

I'm still convinced that David Stern planted this fucking idiot Bettman on the NHL so his competition in the winter sports scene would be significantly weakened, because that is certainly what happened. :pissed:

Yeah I just flipped over to see the Pens and I was like wtf? So I double checked the schedule and not only do they stupidly schedule the two games 30 mins apart but they do them both on the same network. Fail...
