Mike Slive is getting tougher on coaches who bitch about the reffing.

His memo says no more reprimands, now it's fines and suspensions. I'm thinking that means Kiffin will get a suspension and a fine, while somebody who hasn't already complained this year would only get a fine.

Lane Kiffin is quickly becoming "King of the Hypocrite Assholes"

Let's flash back to the winter/early spring:

Kiffin: URBAN MEYER CHEATS! He calls our recruits! One time - he even text messaged one of our recruits while they were on a visit to Knoxville! You can't call the recruits of other teams! That's slimy and low!

Let's flash forward to October, the Vols have just beaten Georgia by 20+ points in a huge home victory.

Kiffin: Absolutely we're calling Georgia's recruits. Gotta let them know we are an up and coming team in the SEC! That's what you gotta do to stay competative in this league - yes sir! I am right and very smart and not at all reliant on my father.

[censored]ing cock. I hope he dies in a god damn fire.

screw kiffin. now, to the subject referring to the refs. i think you should hold them to no different standard as anyone else. we had a writer here in town say that no ref has ever decided a game..that is bs of the highest order.

i have seen games where a legit td was taken off the board. that is an earned td that is blown by a ref. that is without a doubt a difference maker. these coaches and kids work way to hard to have a bs call go against them. too not be able to call them out is nuts. these announcers are another problem because they just wont say anything harsh against a referee because if something is said negative about refs their job is in jeopardy.

Well, if he was on fire, I wouldn't walk across the street to piss on him....

its becoming quite apparent that the sec is really down this year. the games are getting more and more brutal too watch every week.

In the past you could have used the excuse "well, they just beat up on each other and it just looks bad". Not so fast this go around.

1. Florida isnt really that good without harvin
2 Alabama has no qb and has struggled two weeks straight
3. Lsu is no juggernaut.
4. Georgia has a bad qb and no defense
5. Auburn has a joke for a coach
6. Arkansas is getting better but still average
7. South Carolina is still young with a horrendous offensive line.
8. Ole Miss is schizo
9. Miss State is showing promise but are bad overall
10.kentucky is about like arky and sc
11.Vandy is amazing given thier resources. gotta respect but they stink
12.Tennessee-Its a comedy of errors there, but kiffen sure can recruit.

Bottom line is that the league is down, and with Mallet and Garcia coming back in 10' as the best qbs, its gonna be bad again.

What is the expectation for Florida next year? They have their hands full WITH tebow and that stacked defense.

College football is always cyclical, but who would take their place? The ACC is deep but not elite, and the latter is all the media/nation cares about.

I'm not sure the big 12 is ready to steal the crown (even though they were arguably better last year), as they've taken a step back overall.

Florida is still gonna be pretty good. John Brantley is their new qb and will do fine. They will lose some guys on defense and that will make them vulnerable.

I dont think there is a conference near ready to supplant the sec as the best conference, the sec will just not be as powerful. I see the Trojans possibly winning it all next year.

A healthy Debose might help.

BTW, do I get credit for noticing this way before anyone else did(at least non-Florida fans)?

Posted before '08 season, coming on the heels of an awful year for their D.

I looked at Florida's projected starting defense in my Phil Steele mag and every single starter is an underclassman including 7 sophomores. Looks like they may have the best D in the country for '09 and if Tebow returns, their O will be right up there too.

Ok, so maybe their O isn't right up there but not bad for a 2 year projection. :wink2:

props. Debose was a big loss. There will be another team or two that will rise out of the sec next year. That should be interesting to watch.

Is there any chance of the #2 SEC team playing a top team this year? Or do the bowl alignments prevent that? Sure Utah dominated Alabama, but on paper they were among the weakest, like Hawaii, Notre Dame, etc.

That isnt allowed. heard a long discussion about this last week on the radio. the 2 team gets an at large to the sugar.

Assuming a 1-loss SEC Champ doesn't miss a BCS Title game of Texas-Iowa, if they're both undefeated. :wink2:

good point. if bama or florida lose before the seccg, and the loser beats the undefeated team in the seccg, you just might get get the sec locked out of the mnc game.

IF that were to happen, i pray that it is texas and iowa. that would be bad enough. it would be atrocious to have to watch cincy play in that game. Cincy bearcats in the national title game would be a complete snoozer.
