2009 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

OSU recruiting classes: early decisions

2005: Jam-O and Alex Boone committed years in advance, other than that, no commits until April
2006: Beanie and Homan committed right after 2005 NLOID. No more until June
2007: Nate Oliver right around NLOID. No more until May
2008: Buchanan, Adams, and Posey kicked it off in March
2009: Already 6 commits as of Feb 10th.

It seems as though OSU has tons of momentum rolling right now.

Clarett & Tresselball definitely played a role in that... as well as a smaller resume of dominance. '06 & '07 didn't end well, but that's a much easier rebuttal to negative recruiting than the earlier pitches.

Two guys I wanted to bring attention to, but I am not sure how much mutual interest there is in both.

Nigel Thornton-Mitchell

LB out of Georgia. Solid 6'2" 215 right now, with a "reported" 4.9 forty, but if you watch his videos you can tell he either plays much much faster than that, or that was possibly taken when he was in the 8th grade.

Lonnie Pryor
Hey, if we get Terrelle, why not match him in the backfield with his namesake Lonnie? A RB out of Florida. 6'1" 195 right now. Will be one of the top backs in the country.

We are good for one stud out of both of these states, FL and GA, a year it seems. Mitchell-Thornton has already expressed interest, and though Pryor has not, you never know. I moreso put him there because of the "Pryor" name, and though it would be cool to follow the Law Firm of Wells & Wells with that of Pryor & Pryor. Also, I wanted to throw these names out to see if the insiders what heard anything, even a blip on the radar, about these 2?

If we would get Bryce Brown and TP we would be unstoppable....and we kinda already are
Hmmm, not QUITE unstoppable... but we are int he Big Ten basically. 1 conference loss in 2 years constitutes Conference dominance. However, until we can start competing at a higher level OOC with our bowl opponents, then we are far from it on a national level.

The voice of reason.
Just getting started on '09, so thanks for heads-up on Thornton-Mitchell and Pryor, too. Looks like they fit nicely.

Sooo many LB's out there, but getting a guy the likes of T-M would more than makeup for my disappointment of not getting Shayne Hale.

Not trying to say we are unstoppable, but...

We've lost three out of seven bowl games under JT, two of which to the National Champs. We aren't far from anything.

Carradine is a DE, or possibly an OLB in the right defense. He has a frame very much like that of Pierre Woods when he was at Glenville (6-5 215 or so going into their senior years), and is known primarily for rushing the passer. He had about 25 sacks as a sophomore, but far less than that as a junior, apparently. Admittedly, getting reliable info out of Taft is a challenge, so I'm not sure whether his drop in production is due to injury, incomplete reporting by Taft, or an actual drop in production.

Hopefully someone will be contacting him to talk to him soon, because I don't believe any of Scout, Rivals, or Bucknuts has done so at this point. Tyler Houska at Medina Highland is another player I like a lot but who hasn't been contacted by any of these recruiting sites either, to my knowledge.
