FYI, Lance is starting his run up to the TDF. Thought it is time to start looking to the best sporting event in the world. After a lackluster race in 2008, this year is going to be HUGE with Lance back in.

He is riding for Astana (a Netherland team) that also has Alberto Contador and Levi Leipheimer. This is a stacked team and it will be interesting to see who ends up being the team leader. My guess is that it will be Lance becasue the big results that Contador had in '07 were because he was doped. He great and could win the polka dot jersey, just not TDF overall great IMO.

My company is supplying product for the Garmin Slipstream guys for all the big races and the TDF so I should be getting some good inside scoop.

The first race of the year for Astana is the Tour Down Under.
 
I just started my cycling clinic this past Saturday, and we'll start actual distance rides next week. Any time I even start to think I may actually be turning into some semblance of a cyclist, I just look at these guys to get a 2x4 of humility upside the head.

It is cool as hell. I think I posted this but I had dinner with Millar, Zabriski, Vaughters and Vandevelde a few weeks back. One of the coolest things I have ever had the opportunity to do. Spent two days with the team.

Lance had his bikes stolen at the Tour of California.

Astana

He is currently in 4th place. It is a solid field with most of the top Euro teams racing. 7 day stage race. Lance is riding for Levi Leipheimer who is in the lead.

Lance looks good but he is BIG. Looks more like a free safety, not a cyclist. So I think he is going to have issues when he comes to the high mountains in the tour. But he will be a factor.

This actually is turning out to be a very entertaining tour. LOTS in infighting among the Astana team. Contadour is acting like a prick IMO and Lance has the backing of Bruneel and most of the team I am sure.

This one will go down to the last day. Esp the TT and the last 2 mountain stages in the Alpes.

I did not think that LA could win the race, much less be top 10. But now after watching for a week...I think he is going to win in a close one.

Like him or not, the Dude is amazing.
