Thanks. Hicks isn't an irreplaceable 5-star guy, but he's clearly someone they wanted.

Looks like RB Nick Hill, LB Matt Zakrzewski & DB Courtney Avery have been the standouts thus far.

And in some pretty old news:
U-M commitment Ricardo Miller moving to Michigan | Freep.com | Detroit Free Press

Whats funny is at the Sound Body and Mind camp... Rich said Hicks was the best corner in the state and one of their top 3 targets at cb, Dews and co arent giving up on the kid yet.

Michigan $ - Tuesday UM Camp Report

Rivals #9 RB (Miami FL) Eduardo Clements (Mia, FSU, UGA offers) and worked out at RB & slot. May announce his decision when he returns home (between UGA & UM?).

RB Nick Hill was invited to camp to earn an offer and turned in a 4.41 40. Undersized back struggled with the physicality and catching aspect of drills.

Gardner continues to shine, improving his throwing every time out.

Courtney Avery also shined at DB.

That would be tough for me to judge. I saw a 4-minute highlight video that the TSUN blogger posted on BN yesterday, and I don't think he threw a single pass in it.

Yeah, I saw that video. Those were specifically run highlights only. I think this is the one you are talking about. It just surfaced recently.

I heard the same thing. Although, UGA was way ahead early on. Not sure how much, if any, UM closed the gap.

I think the difficulty with catching passes will hurt his chances at a UM offer. UM would have to miss on a couple other RBs before he gets that offer though. If it's Feb 1st, 2010, I wouldn't mind picking him up to fill a class and take a shot on him, but not right now. Not with better, IMO, options out there. Impressive 40 time though from him.

Odd, I thought RR would offer anyone who breaths.

Michigan should go blue (turf) with 2010 opener - Big Ten - ESPN

"Right now, I'd go where I can make the most money," Boise State athletic director Gene Bleymaier said. "If I can play at home and make that much money, then I'm going to play at home. But it's difficult to make that much money in our stadium size. ... I've tried to avoid those [guarantee games]. Now they're much more of a reality going forward."

It's rare when you can get a bona fide, quality opponent to come to your place without having to return the game, something Michigan would prefer not to do. Boise State remains the gold standard for non-BCS programs, a perennial Top 25 team and one that commands national respect. Granted, Boise State might not excite Michigan fans like an SEC, Big 12 or a Pac-10 team, but those folks ain't coming to Ann Arbor without a return game.
